Nicalis, the publisher behind games such as Cave Story and Ikachan, is releasing another game next week. 1001 Spikes is a “tough-as-nails” 2D side-scrolling pixelart deathtrap adventure game, originally created as an Xbox Live Indie Game.

Players are Aban Hawkins, forced to search for his father in deadly dungeons after the latter disappeared. There’s treasure to be had, including the legendary big one behind the Golden Door of Poko-Mum. Assuming you survive all those spikes and other nasty traps. 1001 Spikes will also feature co-op and versus modes for one to four players simultaneously.

You’ll be able to unlock nearly two dozen characters, including some well known indie ones such as Bit.Trip Runner’s Commander Video.

The game will be available on Sony’s Cross-Buy, which means you’ll only need to pay its $14.99 asking price once to get a copy on both the PlayStation 4 and Vita. If you’re buying it on PC and already own Cave Story or Night Sky, you’ll get a $5 discount.

1001 Spikes will be available June 3rd on PC, Sony PlayStation 4, and the PlayStation Vita. The game is also headed to Wii U, but doesn’t have a release date yet.
