Christmas came early for fans The Witcher series this weekend. With release date confirmed just yesterday, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt is now also available for pre-order at CD Projekt Red’s very own — best of all, you’ll be able to pre-order a 100% DRM-free version with a chance to save up 20% off at $47.99.

Discount + DRM free on an AAA title? Where do I sign up? Here’s the details on how to get 10%, 15%, or up to 20% off on the pre-order:

  • 20% off at $47.99 for those that bought The Witcher 1 and 2 on
  • 15% off at $50.99 for those that bought either The Witcher 1 or 2 on
  • 10% off at $53.99 for everyone else

When I heard preorder bonuses I was skeptical at first given how everyone likes to praise CD Projekt RED for having some of the most consumer friendly practices in the industry.

But this is how you do digital preorder bonuses right; additional media completely separate from the game itself, not content that should have been included in the game they’re selling to begin with.

    • Yup its just nice stuff to browse through/listen to. Game’s excellent soundtrack, artwork, beta key for separate games. Zero word about some special in-game skill, story line, weapons, etc. Thank goodness.

  • Btw for comparison if you pre-order at GameStop you get a Witcher key chain.

    Uh.. yep.

I love that they give you a discount if you already own the previous games. I’m tempted to get Witcher 3 because W2 was pretty good.

    • Fox

Not much of a discount considering they’re marking up the PC version $10.

      • Mir Teiwaz

It’s not like $60 is unheard of for a PC game.

        • Fox

It’s not unheard of, but it’s not the industry standard and it’s not something that’s really excusable. Thus far we’ve really only seen horrendously anti-consumer publishers like EA doing it.

          • Mir Teiwaz

Bethesda did it with Skyrim and I heard no complaints then. Blizzard sold Starcraft 2 at launch for $60 and that didn’t stop millions from buying it.

I also can’t recall people claiming them to be anti-consumer either, at least not on any major scale like EA gets flak for.

god…i need to play witcher 1~2 to remember the story O_o

    • Triss Merigold hanging out with Geralth of Rivia. Chilling thru the woods.

‘s all you need to know, IMO

Also, if you are in Europe, they’ll give you back the price difference with some free store credit.

And then people wonder why I like GOG.
