Summer Sales from Origin, Uplay, & More (Steam’s Missing in Action)

By Viet Do . June 7, 2014 . 12:00pm

Arrive the Summer Sales has. Hold onto your wallets as Origin Store, Uplay Shop, GMG, Gamefly Digital are all having their respective PC Games Digital Summer Sales – the seasonal ritual where we buy games we never play.

Missing in action is everyone’s favorite Steam Store Summer Sale – but honestly from what we’ve seen in the past few years, GMG and GameFly gets more than competitive in their pricing (at least for North America gamers anyways).

Given there’s over hundreds of titles on sale, we’ve picked some of the better and notable deals. If you spot something worthy from each respective stores listed below, let us know and we’ll add it to the list.

Update 6/10: Deals refreshed again. E3 2014 kick things up a notch with Origin now having Titanfall, Battlefield 4, and SimCity at 50% off. Gamefly’s Summer Sale has already ended. Steam’s still missing in action. GMG has a bunch of Valve and Microsoft Studios bundle for cheap.

this is nothing, when steam sale starts, the earth will tremble for a month…

    • I know its easy to say “Steam Sale is the bestttt” but I’m fairly certain quite a few titles above will be cheaper than Steam’s own sale. At least, in NA anyways.

Amazon, GMG and all these other retailers selling the same Steam keys have been pretty competitive in price as of late.

Steam has not been the best place for deals for at least two years now. Still, that’s where most people buy (many don’t even know about the other stores), so obviously there’s a lot more fervor around their sales.

The benefit of the steam sale isn’t necessarily the depth of the discounts but the breadth.

I couldn’t care less about yet-another-AAA-game-sale, since they’re either something I’ll buy immediately on release since I want to play it, or yet-another-CoD-or-Assassin’s-Creed-like or similar game that I wouldn’t play unless I was paid too.

However the ancient-game-that-might-be-good, or the indie-game-that-looks-dodgy-but-might-be-worth-more-then-10-minutes-of-play are probably worth it at 50+% off.

The last couple Steam sales I’ve actually bought quite a few games from other places because they had the better deal.

  • Raoni Marques

The title says it all: Buy all the games you’ll never play

I think the timing isn’t right. I’m in the middle of exams now and once they are finished I need 2 days of blowing of steam :p , 5 days recovering and then I will need the Steam Summer sale. I know that if I don’t play a game immediatly I will probably not play it anytime soon.

Plus I had a load of miss buys recently :(

Way too early for Steam sale. A little over a month and the night when our wallets will cry comes.

I I recommend Call of Juarez: Gundslinger. Very fun FPS with enough western charm and beautiful locales to set it apart from your average, brown and grey FPS game.

It’s a steal at that price.

Steam usually has their summer sale in the summer.
(I know, right?) Just wait 5 weeks and it’ll have started by then.

  • KrazyBean

Steam Summer Sale in a nutshell.

    • Mordina

      Ahahah! This is hilarious!

  • Chris Cruz

Personally its already started for me on steam. Crimzon Clover for 7 bucks ;)

  • Warboss Aohd

    i don’t care if Steam isn’t involved.

I refuse to use Origin if i can avoid it, and the one game i own on Uplay won’t work because apparently Uplay REALLY doesn’t like that i got it on Steam.

Which Begs the question, why put it on Steam if i require Uplay to play it anyway?

Uplay is actually worse than Origin.

  • Seth Forbus

Steam’s sale doesn’t start until July generally.
