In This Game, You Play As The Moon, Searching For The Sun

6180 The Moon caught our eye amidst Nintendo’s E3 lineup. The indie black-and-white game stars players as the moon looking for the sun.

Players control the moon as it/she jumps across the galaxy, searching for the sun, which has mysteriously vanished.

Korean developer Turtle Cream’s game has no floor or ceiling in this side-scrolling puzzler, so jumps will see you “falling” through the floor and back up to the top of the screen. It’s a crucial element to getting to the exit past spike pits and bouncing panels mysteriously placed in the middle of space.

6180 The Moon has been Greenlit on Steam for PC, and will also be out in the third quarter of this year for the Wii U.

Gods, that game is beautiful. I want it, I want it bad. And I don’t even like indie games all that much.

I love beautiful concepts like this

there are moments in every moon’s cycle where it chases after something it can’t attain.

a love separated by time and space.

  • Ticktockman

It kinda reminds me of “Tennis for two”, the one on the radars

  • Arcade Bumstead

Is it rude if I say I could make this game in a day in Gamemaker

    • dawnbomb

no not at all. its rude that money grubbing devs use simple concepts done forever ago to cash grab when you can get it for free in FLASH for crying out loud.

    • darke

No it’s not rude, but you didn’t, right?

As it is with a lot of things in the IT sphere, it’s not whether you have the idea or not, it’s whether you bother to execute it, and whether you execute it well and at the right time that counts. :)

That whole “falling off from the bottom to the top of the screen” thing puts me in the mind of VVVVV …..*shudders* Still have nightmares about some parts of that game. God damn spikes.
