New Mighty No. 9 Gameplay Footage And First Details On Call

By Ishaan . June 30, 2014 . 9:01am

Comcept and Inti Creates have shared a new gameplay video for Mighty No. 9 that shows off more footage from the game’s Mighty No. 2 and Mighty No. 5 stages. You can watch this below.

Additionally, Comcept have shared further details on the game’s second playable character, Call. Call has a new look, illustrated below, and Comcept have shared a couple of tidbits on how she plays as well.

For starters, Call can’t perform a crouching dash like Back, so she uses a crawl maneuver instead. Comcept suggest that she’ll be able to use the move to navigate cramped areas such as ventilation shafts and so on. The character, they say, wasn’t built for combat, but she will be an asset to Beck nevertheless.

You can view two of Call’s in-game animations in this post.

Mighty No. 9 is currently planned for release in Spring 2015.

Just like Mega Man is known as Rockman in JPN, it was made to be Rock n Roll. Here, the main character is named Beck, as in Beck n Call.

      • Tinye

Wow you just blew my mind sir…

      • Adrian Duran

also Beck is a famous rockstar

    • 하세요

Little late, don’t you think? :P

  • CrossZX

I cannot wait to play this game! This is the first game I actually backed on Kickstarter. Looking forward to the plushy, t-shirts and artbook as well :D

  • Leonard Norwood Jr.

So much tinkering with their new game. I can’t wait to play this game when it is ready. And obviously Beck will have new abilities and weapons to use other than his “Buster” and his dash that absorbs enemies. Call will have a different but similar kind of treatment. More information that I will await as the months go by in development.

  • Hagaren

Looking great, as usual! Can’t wait to play this!

  • J_Joestar

for a sec there, i thought the box said “Canada”

  • Maria Garcia

all my love for call <3

  • Code Name Crono

That thousand-yard stare of hers though. Frightening. Too early to call End Boss for her?

  • benhofb

Beck and Call are looking so great and super cute! I can’t wait for this to come out!

  • nonscpo

Yes…everybody aboard the hype train, this train doesnt stop until 2015!

  • ShinNeoGranzon

The idea of combat in this game seems to be the same as Gunvolt in that you mark enemies by shooting them and then finish them off with a dash in this game or the lightning ring in Gunvolt

  • Spirit Macardi

The gameplay is still looking great, but the graphics are still rather meh. They don’t make any real use of the 2.5D aspect, which is pretty disappointing since that seems to be the norm anymore these days. Though even the last Kirby game made use of the foreground and background.

This isn’t a big deal breaker or anything, but if everything is going to be on a 2D plane then why not just use sprites?

    • Senka

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It’s as if it’s just commonly accepted philosophy that 3D graphics automatically look better even if it’s not a 3D game, like this. It’s ridiculous, especially in a changing time for games.

It still looks good to me, but I have to wonder “why” as well.

      • Beat

It is still very early in development…

    • John Diamond

Yeah, it looks iffy to me, but it is early footage right?

  • SlickRoach

I wish they kept the Skullgirls-esque art graphics from the first image. So do enemies all require you to dash into them to kill them? Seems weird to have a main ranged weapon but have to get in close for the kill.

    • Jaku618

That is concept art. The game was always plan to be 2.5D since the beginning. Also not every enemy is require to kill with the dash with enough shots they can be destroy but its much faster to shot till they are stun then dash into them which also seem to give an upgrade like piercing shot, faster running speed, etc.

  • Loving it so far. I’m on the hype train if you need me :)

  • CirnoLakes

    Call! Woo, Call! Yay!

  • Nomura Arceo

    hnng! my heart is melting!

  • Michieie

Looking good so far. Call looks like Momoko from the PPG Z, though.

That being said, I jumped off the train with the whole dinagate thing. How it went? Did it finish?

  • Kornelious

That Call is just to adorable <3 All aboard the hype Train! :D

  • Harvey Tejada Loto

    call looks like miku

    • k.b.a.

there was a backer community vote from nine designs. i can’t put into words my disappointment with the end result

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

can’t wait to see Rolls gameplay I meant call

  • Elfaia

It looks like your typical rockman game, which is fun, but I hope they have an option to turn off the points shown on-screen. It’s distracting.
