See What Acquire And Xseed Added To Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed For The West

By Spencer . June 30, 2014 . 11:05pm

This video is from the PlayStation 4 version of Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed which has not been announced for the West, but the feature showcased in the video is one of the additions added to the Western release.

Xseed worked with Acquire to make male strip portraits from Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed. These will be in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game when Xseed releases Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed this summer.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed comes out for PlayStation 4 in Japan this week.

    Oh my…

That bulge will haunt my dream for a while…

    • Robert Hendrie

      • Namuro

        Um… Okay?

  • Shippoyasha

But will it have animal stripping?

    • Zero_Destiny

This is the question I asked when Nintendo teased New Leaf.

    • Steven Higgins

You mean like pulling out their fur/feathers? That seems king of mean, It’s not like clothes are growing out of a human’s (or , in this case, vampire’s) body.

  • TreizeX

    Have fun females
    I guess

  • DesmaX

    Based Xseed

This alone sells the game for me

  • Kornelious

Well this is unheard of! Something for you ladies…..i think……If you need me I’ll be scratching at the door for the PS4 localization XD

    • Jumbokitty724

And for the gay men :) Don’t leave us fellas out.

      • Kornelious

There you go. Now everyone is happy! :D
This game unites a torn world….or something :P

        • Jimmy Bump

That it does video games brings the world together

          • Kornelious

            Yeah! :D

  • Doctor Nebula

    Male strip portraits you say..?
    *Makes it rain on Xseed*

  • Darkbeat

That’s an awesome addition! I can’t wait for the game. It’s like a spiritual successor to Yakuza in a way.

  • Jumbokitty724

This pleases me! Not enough male fan service in games.

  • mockturtle

As if this wasn’t already a day-one purchase! Words cannot describe how much this pleases me.

  • Dingus

    Glorious Equality!

Just try to complain now feminazis~

    • We don’t need to insult unrelated peoples/groups here. Lets just enjoy the equal fanservice.

      • Shippoyasha

I guess it’s more a jab at outright hostile types of groups making this into a militant issue online and not every feminists. It’s not a monolithic movement after all. And sadly, a lot of more sensible people are drowned out by extreme demagogues online. A lot of gamers are fed up with it.

        • Brii-Nanas

Ironically, it seems it’s turned around so that the people constantly mentioning/complaining about said extremists seem to be more common than the ‘extremists’ themselves. I see a lot of comments such as the one above on articles related to fanservice in games, even if there isn’t any dissenting opinion to become retaliatory over.

It’s a shame, because the hostility from both sides stifles the potential for any true discussion on such topics.

          • Shippoyasha

I guess it’s just a natural pushback from all the articles and demagogues the last 2 years where we’d get gamer/game-developer shame articles in gaming news every other day (some websites these days STILL do that), so people are just really angry about the issue.

I think most people can look at the issue cautiously and relatively calmly. Though I can kind of understand the anger. Some people who made really incendiary statements still hasn’t owned up to it.

        • Doesn’t matter. It’s irrelevant, rude and pointless; Siliconera is not a community that welcomes hostility, especially to uninvolved parties.

          • Shippoyasha

True. I didn’t mean to imply outright hostility was acceptable. I don’t like how a calmer discourse has been overtaken by extremists too. Then again, that’s the nature of the Internet.

  • jugss

That guy looks like Malik from Tales of Graces

  • Alex Cattaneo

i mostly dont buy launch games anymore expect for a handfull…this is one of those.

  • Kurai Buzzwagon

mm Male strip It is acutally kinda nice to see that it aint just females that get stripped EQUALITY!

  • I keep saying and I will say it again I want PS4 version in the west =[

  • Weeb

I can finally fulfill my life long dream stripping salarymen in public without getting arrested.

  • DragKudo

Wait you can strip the males in the JP version too.

    • wyrdwad

You can, but in the JP version (on PS3 and Vita, anyway), you’d get special “strip portraits” (almost like pinups, to use as in-game smartphone wallpapers) when stripping female boss characters, but not male boss characters.

We worked with Acquire to have strip portraits added for all the male boss characters in our western release, and it looks like those are getting back-ported to the PS4 version in Japan now. Which is really cool — we made a difference! Yaaaay! ;)

      • Shippoyasha

        Great job as always, mate!

      • DragKudo

        oh okay.

      • aizen310

Can it be made so it can be turned on or off? As a male gamer, I’m not too fond of these male strip portraits, but I don’t want to take away stuffs that lady gamers should might enjoy.

        • wyrdwad

Nope! If women have to deal with seeing the female strip portraits, men have to deal with seeing the male ones. It’s only fair! And in a game where you’re constantly stripping people of both genders anyway, a half-second image on the screen shouldn’t really be much of a dealbreaker. ;)

          • ↑ THIS THIS THIS!!!

          • DesmaX

            I love you.

            No homo

          • aizen310

Something like this should be DLC, considering that the game’s target audience is the male demographic.

          • wyrdwad

Says who? The target audience for Akiba’s Trip is… well, pretty much everyone with a good sense of humor! Men and women alike will have plenty to enjoy in this game. Even Acquire is showcasing both genders in their trailers. This game has never been specifically for men, and that’s part of what makes it such a great experience! It’s a really unique title with an almost universal appeal, *if* you can get past the preconceived notion that a game about stripping = fanservice for guys.

Because trust me, this game ain’t just for guys!

          • wyrdwad

…Besides which, making it DLC would almost be insulting. It would suggest that female gamers, as well as homosexual and bisexual male gamers, are basically an afterthought.

This game welcomes all audiences with open arms. It does not discriminate. ;)

      • Brii-Nanas

Kudos to you guys! Though I must ask… is this the announcement you teased in the Bakumatsu Rock article?

        • wyrdwad

Oh, is that where I said something like, “we have something planned for the ladies”? If so, then yeah, this is what I meant. ;)

          • Brii-Nanas

Congratulations, then. You’ve actually sold me on the game with this move.

Maybe we can see more initiatives like this in the future, eh? *nudgenudgewinkwink*

I mean, maybe you could find your female-oriented equivalent to Senran Kagura~

          • wyrdwad

Hey, if they make it, we will evaluate. ;)

  • Barrylocke89

Wow, when Tom mentioned somewhere that he was all for equal opportunity fanservice, he really meant it. I’m kind of impressed.

  • Kai2591

  • aizen310

    Please, let it be optional!
    Please, let it be optional!!!

Sorry, I’m a man with a more… traditional way of thinking.

    • leingod

I get you. I’ll be avoiding the male fanservice like the plague :P … not that I think it’s wrong, on the contrary! It’s just that I don’t roll that way.

      • I really don’t get why most men try to avoid male nudity as if the fact of simply seeing an undressed cartoon man could make you less “macho” or in some way affect your own sexuality.

        • aizen310

I just don’t like it. Better now? I want to experience Akiba’s Trip but not with bulging packs in briefs. You are the m**** here, since I actually offered the idea of toggleable male stripping action, but no… all of you want to force this on me :/ I can’t believe this. Make it a DLC then, dammit.

        • leingod

Maybe you’re reading too much into it. At least for me, it isn’t as complex as “affecting my sexuality” or anything like that. I just dislike the idea, so I will avoid the stuff…. just like I’d avoid peas in a plate if I didn’t like them.

    • Rose Spinoza

Look. I’m forced to look at scantily clad females in odd positions in bunches of games, and I deal even though I don’t like it. You can deal with some males getting the same treatment for one game :p .

      • aizen310

And male gamers are the majority, that’s why you forced to play women in bikini armor.
And FYI, I could’ve just said that screw this, I’m not g**. Instead I said: “Please, let it be optional!” OPTIONAL is the keyword.
See? I actually understand you. Just don’t force me to strip males.

If you feel uneasy about bikini armored girls in embarassing positions, then let your voice heard. I do the exact same… kinda… sorta…

        • well, sorry to burst your bubble man, but male-doods will be stripped XDDDD

Let’s see if it’s optional. If not… yeah, better brace yourself.

        • Rose Spinoza

And yet, somehow my heart doesn’t ache for you and your apparently oh-so-innocent eyes.
Though, I’m sorry the shock of male portraits has apparently knocked your fedora askew.

          • aizen310

Next time, if a game offers bikini armored girls, call me and I’ll be your best companion against those kind of forced fanservice, because f*** me right and call me Suzy, I still think stuff like these should be optional, because I know someone’s still liking this. Just don’t force me to play the game with male strippers. I rather play the japanese one. And I don’t speak japanese.

          • Apparently you prefer to understand nothing about a game than seeing naked man on your screen for…3 seconds maybe…way to go (y)

          • No one is forcing you to play this game.

        • Brii-Nanas

Unfortunately, that just leads to people accusing them of being ‘feminazis’. Just look at some of the comments here. It’s a lose lose situation for us, so the least some of you guys can do is not be hypocrites about it. It’s one game among hundreds that get exclusively female fanservice. You’ll be fine.

          I’ll be especially fine~

        • I think the game should “force” you to strip both genders to fully complete it. People should be used to see “naked” people and learn that seeing it will not make any difference after all!

        • celery

Male gamers are the majority by only a little bit, as various studies will show.

There are many games with exclusively female fanservice, and when women tend to speak up about it, or even ask for a male-oritented version of the game, they are usually attacked for having such an opinion.

So it’s fine for you to want it to be optional, but this is one game with male stripping in a time where (mandatory) outrageous female fanservice is becoming more and more the norm. If it’s not optional, your heterosexuality won’t be in danger, just like all the straight women who play video games.

          • aizen310

Since when did I say my heterosexuality is in danger because of this. You guys start to imagening things. And I would yet to meet said gamer girls. In my environment, 2 out of 10 girls are playing video games on hardcore level. And I’m afraid I said too many. Gamer girls are like mythos. lol
            As I stated above:
“I like to watch girls getting stripped!
I DON’T like to watch boys getting stripped!
            That’s it! End of story!
            I don’t like it!
            I don’t!
            It irks me!”

Why do I have to explain something that’s just natural?

I praise games that has a selectable male or female protagonist. That’s cool. Persona 3 Portable even went a little bit further and replaced Elizabeth with Theodore. That was neat. But when it comes to ecchi, just make it optional.

          • celery

It’s just statistics. Not every area is going to have the same, but in general that’s how it is. In my situation, I know far more women who play games (competitively or not) than I do men. So just because your situation is different doesn’t mean all situations are like that.

Also, your posts seem to want the male stripping to be optional, but I see no mention about the female stripping being made optional, too (especially after your comment regarding why it’s supposedly fine for women to put up with “scantily-clad bikini armor women”). Why not make them both optional? You’re a straight male who can’t stomach the sight of a shirtless man, so what about the straight females who don’t want to see women in their bras, underwear, and less? If you really feel you’re being fair like this, I would expect you to argue that all the fanservice be optional.

But at the end of the day, if you’re really, truly that put-off by it, you can play almost any other game and not have to worry about it. Even though the ratio of male-to-female gamers is very close to 1:1, the number of games with female-only fanservice is enormous and the number of games with male fanservice at all is slim. This will be only one game you miss, while other gamers will miss countless more because the fanservice in them is off-putting. Since you can’t seem to find any good in this because the male fanservice isn’t optional, I’ll give you a silver lining: this is just one game–ONE–that you’ll be missing out on. Save the money to pick up any other game, and it will undoubtedly suit your tastes more.

        • wyrdwad

The game already forces you to strip males. This is barely a drop in the bucket.

In general, this game is not sexy. The nudity and stripping is played for humor and social satire. If you’re going into it expecting to be turned on, you might be better suited looking elsewhere, honestly.

          • aizen310

As much as I want to play this game,
I just don’t want anyone to see me looking at pictures of stripped males. (T_T) I didn’t played the game, so I don’t know how much male stripping was there initially (or how highlighted there were, because as things are looking right now, it’s pretty highlighted).
            Just imagine this:
Our HDTV is in the living room, where usually everyone gathers up or just goes through it. How should a straight guy explain something so embarassing to it’s own family/parents if they’ll see these pics :D Sounds like a scene from a bad Ben Stiller movie :D

          • DesmaX

Dude, how are you supposed to explain a game where you strip female characters in the first place?

Would you really show that to your mother?

          • wyrdwad

And it would be easier to explain stripping women? I’d think they’d both be pretty hard to explain, honestly. If not, then it sounds like your family’s priorities might be in the wrong place, since randomly attacking and stripping strangers on the street is pretty frowned upon in most circles regardless of gender. ;)

Make no mistake, this game is all about over-the-top stripping of both men and women. The actual gameplay devotes roughly equal time to both genders, and in fact most of the main villains are male. Despite the video showcasing the strip portraits, they are literally on the screen for roughly a half-second apiece, and only appear when you defeat a major story boss (which will only happen an average of 3 times per gender per playthrough). So the chances of your family even noticing the strip portraits when they flash on the screen is small unless they’re actively watching you play — and if they’re actively watching you play, they’ll see much worse than that long before witnessing the strip portraits in action! This game is full of swearing, sexual innuendo and toilet humor, all played for social satire. It’s akin to South Park in its “offensiveness,” and I can pretty much guarantee you that the male strip portraits aren’t going to make it any less “family-friendly” than it already was.

In short, this is not a game to be playing on your living room TV in front of easily disturbed family members. If your family is cool enough to appreciate good low-brow satire, however, then play away! ;)

        • Warboss Aohd

not by as much as you might think

as of late the male/female ratio of gamers is almost 50/50

          • aizen310

And yet, I have to meet one. They’re like some legendary Pokémon. Are they even exist?

          • DesmaX

          • wyrdwad

They do. Trust me. As a representative of the company working on this game, I can say with all honesty that we get just as many women writing in as men, and I personally know just as many female gamers (if not more) as male ones.

            Maybe it’s a regional thing, I dunno!

          • aizen310

Maybe. Girls over here are your typical club crawlers with alcohol problems. If you mention a videogame, you’re automatically uncool and unwanted by the female community.

          • Warboss Aohd

a few of the Let’s Players i subscribe to are Women.

        • it is a face that shows how disappointed i am at what you are saying.

    • Junko Enoshima

      Wow, suck it up then.

      • aizen310

        Wow? W… Wow???!!!

Sorry for being hetero, I guess O.O

        • Junko Enoshima

Oh, will men in underwear ruin your sexuality?

BTW, I’m hetero too and I don’t mind.

          • aizen310

No, but I don’t like to watch them. IS IT SO FRICKIN’ HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT???!!!
I like to watch girls getting stripped!
I DON’T like to watch boys getting stripped!
            That’s it! End of story!
            I don’t like it!
            I don’t!
            It irks me!

However, I can understand that female gamers need some service! But CAN YOU understand me? Me on the other side of the scale! Huh? Can you? I’m being honest here, and this is what I get.
If anyone has the right saying “Wow”, its me!
I’m the good guy here, goddammit! >:(

          • You’re not in the wrong at all. People don’t understand what a target demographic is and how they just inserted the opposite of what you were looking for in the product.

          • aizen310

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
            Finally someone!
It took you long enough though :D

          • Guilherme Vargas

you don’t have the slightest idea about how jerk you are, don’t you?
You are the worst kind of male gamer in the world. You are obnoxious :s. You ashame me as a male gamer.

          • Junko Enoshima

You DO realize that a majority of games cater to male audiences rather than female? And a single game with male AND female fanservice is making you and your fedora get into an angry mess?

          • stephane3012

Yep.Just try to experience what it’s like to be a hetero female gamer in the last two decades.

          • aizen310

Cry me a river. Last time I checked there were plenty of buffed, steroid overdosed male heros in various genres. You might want to tell me what genres you think of exactly.

          • Yuzuki Yukari

do you honestly believe that all of those male heroes are all steroid’d up and muscled for manservice like really

          • aizen310

Just like all men want big breasted girls, all women want overly muscular men. Don’t be a hypocrite, just admit it. You are more turned on by the sight of a finely shaped male body than a fatty, greasy one :/

Kratos, Chris Redfield, Dante, at least one guy from every Tales game, at least one guy from every Final Fantasy, Nathan Drake, dunno what games girls playing besides Farmville or Sims so that’s why I said, be specific with the genres, because games usually features handsome/muscular main heroes. Said heroes might not exist for female gamers, but don’t tell me you don’t enjoy them. Even if it’s not directly because of you, but you females also has your share of service. I never played a game with a fat, nerdy main hero. Do you?

Also most games include character generator nowadays. So make your own fantasy a reality.

          • Brii-Nanas

You do realize men aren’t exclusively “fat nerds” or roided up muscular men, right? I certainly don’t find Kratos to be appealing at all(no offense to those who do!), Nathan Drake is a generic white brunette protagonist, and for every male whose design is meant to appeal mostly to females in an rpg, there are plenty more ms. Fanservices.

Imagine if most games and shows had lots of bishonen characters with homosexual implications and plenty of sparkly shirtless scenes (Not saying all women are into that, just like not all men are into big breasts and such). Ladies have to deal with the equivalent all the time with scantily clad women with ample jiggle physics and panty shots, even in games and shows that aren’t marketed as being entirely for fanservice.

So suck it up and deal with it FOR ONE GAME.

          • aizen310

With the eyes of a woman? Huh… every male she don’t find attractive automatically becomes a disgusting pig. There’s no middle way. Just like in real life: you either win or lose. There is no middle way. You’re either a handsome guy or a fatty greaseball. At least with the eyes of a woman.

I’m gonna let my voice heard and make the developers make “package jiggle physics” for male heroes. Hey, we have breast jiggle on girls, at least this much won’t hurt, ey?

          • Brii-Nanas

Wow. I’m hoping this has all been an elaborate joke, because each of your posts become more and more unsettling.

          • aizen310

            Y… You are unsettled?
With what? You don’t like the idea of glorious package physics? Or are you afraid of the thought that I might right about how women thinks?

          • wyrdwad

We would actually really love to see a game with “package physics” for the male characters. I realize you were just joking, but what you say in jest I say in all seriousness: let’s see this added in future titles, Japan. It would be only fair.

          • aizen310

Dead or Alive 6 => Ryu Hayabusa, the package ninja.

          • Brii-Nanas

Those are male power fantasies, not men designed to appeal to a female audience.

I think you need to take a deep breath and relax. You’re getting way too overly defensive. It’s just one game.

          • aizen310

            B… W…
            What fedora?
            Is it a saying? Or…
            Err… I don’t have a fedora, no, I’m not a hipster.
If other games like Persona 3 Portable or specific Harvest Moon titles was able to create a girl side, then I don’t see why this game couldn’t had a protagonist with a selectable gender. With your selected gender would come the opposite gender’s portraits.
The problem is i’m not a bisexual person. I can only enjoy one side of the fan service and I’m gonna get embarassed when others see me watching at stripped males.

          • Junko Enoshima

First, calm down. You’re acting a bit crazy.

Second, who’s gonna watch you play the game, if you even buy it? It is a GAME and you’re acting like it’s a monster that came to kill your family.

          • aizen310

My family is not too fond of anime/manga style to begin with. “Too much violence. All japanese cartoons are pr0n.” You know… stereotypes… Well this game wouldn’t help me a lot, honestly, but I just don’t want to be caught watching pics of stripped males. I don’t want to be accused of being a … person that swings the wrong way. The console is in our living room, what the hell should I do, huh? You don’t know my parents :/
Aaand besides that, I really don’t feel like watching males in briefs. It’s a game with the male audience in target. Giving it male pictures is like bringing a homecooking section for women to the Playboy magazine.

          • 古戸ヱリカ

“It’s a game with the male audience in target. Giving it male pictures is like bringing a homecooking section for women to the Playboy magazine.”

            You know… stereotypes.

          • aizen310

Yes. Because cooking is a stereotypical action for women and it doesn’t belong in Playboy.

            So what’s the question?

          • 古戸ヱリカ

Nothing, just go back to those violent pr0n cartoons you like.

          • aizen310

            You’re just being nonsensical here.

          • Junko Enoshima

…Okay then? How is any of that relevant?

          • aizen310

Do you even tried to understand what I wrote? My english might fail me, but I’m pretty sure I wrote what I wanted. Put a little more effort into reading it.

          • Gezz! When I think you’ve wrote enough nonsense you came with this! Did you notice that you’re being homophobic and sexist in the same post? You probably not!

First you write that you “don’t want to be accused of being a … person that swings the wrong way” (as if being gay/bi was something you’d be ashamed of) and later you mention “homecooking section for women to the Playboy magazine” as homecooking was just a woman interest!

Please, pay attention to what you wrote.

          • aizen310

Also surprise… Cooking is a woman interest in a way that fixing stuff at home is usually a man interest. Genetics and stereotypes. It’s not me… It’s the world and our nature says so.

          • i honestly think you should just stop. every message that you type makes you appear even more misogynistic, sexist, and homophobic. i dont get how you cant understand that straight female and homosexual male gamers have been experiencing exclusive fan service of women, even if we arent attracted to women. this game has equaled the objectification out. they did not take the women away. they did not assume that all of the consumers would be bisexual. they just covered all of their bases. if you are not attracted to men, then dont be attracted to them when they pop up on your screen. half naked women has not bothered me in my games, nor has is made anyone accuse me of swinging the “right” way.

    • Old-fashioned, you mean? x’D

      • aizen310

“I’m getting too old for this s***.” :D

        • Lol, I can see some people warping that to fit this, both funny and sadly enough!

    • wyrdwad

      Nope! Not optional!

…But this is a game about stripping men and women, and the male strip portraits are only on screen for like, half a second each (unless you choose to use them as smartphone wallpapers afterward, anyway). So this really shouldn’t ruin your good time. No more than the rest of the game will, anyway, as there’s a LOT of unavoidable stripping of both genders as part of regular gameplay.

      • TheCynicalReaper

Dude, I’m also more traditional, but this is just funny. Beyond funny.
I love how this game isn’t making the forced stripping sexy but more goofy. This is going to be fun
        Bought two copies

  • Mika Moreno

While i enjoy male fanservice (even though I’m female) i love the female fanservice too~ :D

    • Same here. >u<
I'm glad it's equal opportunity for everyone now, and that there's plenty to look at all ways. ♥

      • Mika Moreno

I’m glad they are trying something different!
Eye candy is fun no matter the gender~

  • GamerLegend

Collector’s edition would be nice, which one to get PS3 or Vita?

  • Neppygear

yes yEe S .. .. alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright

    • Steven Higgins

Totally read all those “alright”s in Matthew McConaughey’s voice
And I never even saw Magic Mike.

  • im not extremely interested in this game, but i am loving the man-service!!!

If anything, that is why i would check this one out later on.

  • dahuuuundge

    Suck on this feminazis

    • There is no need to be inflammatory or sling around baseless insults. If you’re going to comment, make it something relevant to the game and not personal biases about groups.

  • Raltrios

Hey, good music in this one!

  • O_O holy…. man, I’ll get this on Vita. Wouldn’t want my bro or dad or mom or any friend (except friend who played the first one on PSP) to walk in and see me stripping male-doods if I played the PS3 version or even PS4 version XDDDDD

  • Ann Weschenfeller

Now I’m suddenly interested in this… *grins*

  • Yuzuki Yukari

    Y e S

I wasn’t even thinking of getting this right away but now I’m SO totally pre-ordering it as soon as I can nnnnn bless Xseed so much <3

  • SerendipityX

*heavy breathing* I can’t wait Xseed~ Already preordered the vita version.

  • Neppygear

Real talk, tho, what is so horrific about male strip portraits? They’re mostly there for comedy, anyway. Are straight guys really that repulsed by the sight of an animated man’s half-naked body the moment it’s not shown in any kind of macho or heroic context? (like pro wrestling or whatever)
I’m a gay guy and I was way hyped for this game before it was even announced for localisation. The manservice is really just a bonus. Being dumb and over the top is what this game’s fanservice is all about, and I’m totally into that! (also why I like Senran Kagura)

If y’all are truly that bothered, just get Shinovi Versus instead. (keep supporting Xseed because they are beautiful & great)

    • Shade DMessiah

That doesn’t even matter though. I know straight guys who watched free (Me included .-.) and that show is just “Manservice, the anime”.
I don’t think you should act like that over the creator’s artistic style.
Oh and no, we are not even bothered in the slightest by even a real man’s half-naked body, ever. At least, i’m not.

    • Mc-kun

Maybe naked guys make straight guys freak out about their sexuality? No homo?

    • Shippoyasha

To be fair, a lot of people just don’t consider the male body to be the kind of sexual muse as much as the female body is. I personally don’t mind but the appreciation for body types is not really equal.

      • celery

Granted, I think that’s mostly to do with society changing and making women into “sexual beings,” so to speak. A lot of ancient artists utilized men as their “muses,” as young men used to be the ideal when it came to beauty, and even in some cases sexuality. The idea eventually shifted after centuries, though, to the idea that most people have today.

So yeah, to most people, the “female figure” is more representative of “beauty” and “sexuality.” But it hasn’t always been that way, so some people would argue it’s more of a social idea, meaning in the grand scheme of things it’s basically down to the individual which they find more appealing.

        • Shippoyasha

I still think there’s some biological truths other than the societal element too. By the strict numbers, a lot more girls experiment with homosexuality than men do, and there just seems to be more of an appetite for sexual girls as an aesthetic. Even before the time of Roman and Greek empires, there were many ancient muses featuring giant-breasted statues and even vagina architecture in the ancient world as well.

I definitely agree that the male as a muse is a thing though. I just think that in the modern world (and maybe in the ancient world), humanity has always admired the female figure to a higher degree than for males. Like how the idea of a fertility goddess was more of a common recurrence in anthropology while we rarely see male gods of fertility.

One example is the fashion industry where even gay/lesbian and female designers predominantly use girls as muses for dresses and fashion. It’s actually rare for people to make male fashion even in that industry.

          • celery

Absolutely, both body types have been used as inspiration throughout the ages, but it still seems very socially-based, at least in terms of which seems to be the more prevalent “mindset” at any given time. You could argue that sexual experimentation occurs more with women because of the social stress placed on men to “be a real man,” which includes being straight as a line, in turn turning off a man from experimenting. It’s quite likely that the overwhelming amount of people who think the female form to be more inspiring than the male is left-over from the kind of society we used to have (and still is a bit prevalent in our lives today). Not that it’s wrong to find inspiration from one over the other, and it doesn’t even need to tie in with your sexuality (like the examples you gave), but it shouldn’t determine the kinds of characters we get in games, with all women being beautiful and sexualized and all men being “no homo” male power fantasies (not that I think you’re arguing this at all, by the way! Just putting this out there as a thought, since everyone is different and is going to have different ideas on what they find beautiful and inspiring and such).

          • Shippoyasha

Yeah, more variety is good in the end. I just think that girls being sexy is simply there because a lot of people do admire the feminine form for that. I guess in some ways, it’s like with male characterizations, there’s more of a demand for masculinity to be more utilitarian and more crafted towards fighting or sports aesthetics. Then again, we see characters like Dante as well, who is obviously made to be a hunk. A lot of fighting anime/manga/games and for-boys entertainment in Japan is kind of funny, because there are a ton of hunky boy characters that gravitate fangirls as well. A lot of these entertainment types gets a secondary audience as a result. Much like how magical girl and idol shows definitely aim at the female audience for a large part, but they also bring in the male audience because of the cute designs as well.

    • Warboss Aohd

naw, i’m good with it, it actually makes more sense for there to be more than just females.

then again, we Orks are asexual so of course i don’t care.

  • Mordina

Hahah, man I love this! Kudos to Xseed for making this happen!
Just would be even funnier if you could be a female doing this!

    • Neppygear

Don’t quote me on this, but I have heard that every character model in the game is playable.

      • Mordina

Oh really? Well, we’ll see then :)

      • TrueDefault

According to what I read, you need to clear the game once to be able to swap models and voice.

        • s07195

Actually, you need to clear certain routes to get certain models, I’m pretty sure.

  • Mc-kun

I’m a girl but I kinda want this game.

  • Calintz YT

Very sexy, the bisexual man in me is very aroused.

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Well the inequality argument is now off the table.

  • Kelohmello

haha, everyone gets a slice of the pie. That’s cool. It’s a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

  • It would have been awesome if you fought a presumably female character and when the strip portrait pops up you see a bulge in their panties.
    I <3 traps.

EDIT – I also wish everyone wouldn't get so angry at the few people complaining. The majority of people are neutral/happy about this, so let's be positive and not act like there's a large amount backlash.

    • wyrdwad

There is actually one character in the game who might just capture your interest. ;)

      • 古戸ヱリカ

      • Awesome…

  • Kroz

    hmmm equality = best quality

    Well done Xseed.

  • Jin Kisaragi

I still can’t decide if I should get the PS3 version or the Vita version. I want to get the PS3 version but there is a chance the PS4 version might get localized.

  • I will make it my goal to find every male vampire ( O_O) You know… to uh… save the world *ahem*

  • *Only watches video for a few seconds*
    I’M SOLD!

  • Warboss Aohd

oh look Xseed actually adding content to the game to actually have it make more sense.

  • TheCynicalReaper

This is great! It’s actually getting an added feature for the West release since we’re not getting the PS4 version. Nice.

And that last stripped dude looked like Malik from Tales of Graces, which is not a bad thing. Not a bad thing at all…

  • kyrt

I don’t mind this I’ve always believed in equality and the women should get their share of fanservice as well. Also makes it harder for certain groups to get up at arms about the game when both genders are being equally stripped. take that CNN and radical feminist/religious groups.

    • Steven Higgins

Oh, the radical religious groups will still find a way, They’ll probably say it “promotes the homosexual agenda”

  • Snorlaxation

    I deeply approve.

  • MrTyrant

    Hahaha seems fun (not homo)

  • Jin Kisaragi

Some guys just don’t want to see a man without his clothes. I don’t really mind but I’m not looking forward it to seeing that. I only care about the female strip portraits in Akiba’s Trip.

    • Zen Grenadier

You probably shouldn’t join the military. I think the highlight of my days in Navy boot camp was the After PT shower with 87 naked dudes all trying to cram into a small shower room.

  • Gojira Twit

I’m not offended by this or anything, but the more I watch this game the less it looks like my kind of thing. It actually looks kind of boring. I get that you fight vampires but is that really all there is to it?

    • Shippoyasha

It’s more of a conspiratorial organization game.

  • Lester Paredes

oh, man, that’s awesome. To quote an old saying: What’s good for the goose is good for the Gander.

  • Yan Zhao

    Dem manly strip portraits~

  • Hours Left

The Male Strip Portraits have turned this game from something I had little interest in, to a game I currently have pre-ordered. :)

Great job XSEED and Acquire for providing the equal fanservice. Hopefully the start of much more to come. :D

  • Lance Hairdo

I just preordered the white Destiny bundle. I have the normal black PS4 but I’m selling it now, before it loses any value, and I’m getting the white one instead. It looks SWEET! Amazon still has some here if you’re interested:

  • Göran Isacson

… Well now. Didn’t see this coming and oh man I can’t even finish this sentence EVERYTHING WILL TURN INTO AN INNUENDO. I will simply say “Kudos”, Xseed. Kudos indeed.

  • Guest

Oooft, hot. I LOVE XSEED FOR THIS :D

  • ninjamitsuki

    Oh hell yes!
