Fi Doesn’t Need A Weapon In Hyrule Warriors, She Is A Weapon

By Spencer . July 13, 2014 . 11:18pm

Fi, the sword spirit inside the Goddess Sword, is a playable character for the first time in Hyrule Warriors. Instead of wielding a sword of her own, Fi dances through enemies and glides to create an explosive triangle. Fi also has the ability to transform into a sword for some of her attacks and look at these videos it looks like her sword transformations hit large groups of enemies.

Hyrule Warriors comes out on August 14 in Japan, September 19 in Europe, and finally September 26 in North America.

  • Fi may actually be the character I’m looking forward to the most.

    • Shady Shariest

Midna + Wolves here. No competition =W=

      • Ixbran

        To each their own.

Personally I’m most excited for Agitha, I’ve always had a fondness for sumoner style characters, and shes just adorable.

Tho I am hoping for Mikau from MM to get in, having one of his move sets be focused on his guitar, he’d be the perfect musician for Fi to dance too while the two fight side by side.

        • Göran Isacson

Huh, that COULD be an alternative move-set for Mikau, should he get into the game. I’ve been thinking of the MM people, Darmani, Mikau, the deku butlers son (though they may not go THAT obscure), and what weapons they could be using if they got in BESIDES their actual Majoras Mask movesets. Mikau shredding on a guitar and Darmani banging drums so hard he causes earthquakes would be pretty darn cool.

    • Namuro

I’m getting even more hype for each of the newly revealed characters. But, the one character that I’m still looking forward to using the most is still Impa.

But man, Fi is really elegant, and kicks so much ass at the same time!

      • Seriously, the new characters all keep having very unique playstyles and there’s the potentially for us seeing all revealed villains to be unlockables and that’s just. Yes, please.

I know folks were very neutral about this game at first but they’re really showing that this is gonna be some great stuff, I can’t wait to get it.

        • Namuro

Yeah, it’s looking better and better. The crowd seem to be warming up to the game more than before, too.

Playable villains would be nice! I’d like to play as Zant, actually. I hope other villains like Phantom Ganon also makes the cut, but I really doubt that he’ll make it in. LOL

  • Shady Shariest

This game keeps getting more fun-looking :3

  • RagingTiger44

She’ll slice you to pieces and dance on top of your corpses…

  • Justin Graham

Defeating her foes with the power of DANCE! I mean yeah, being the spiritual incarnation of a magic sword helps, but DANCE!

  • RawrWata

    “Skip my tutorials will you?!”

  • Namuro

Ooooh! I love that! So elegant!

Dance! Dance ’till you (are all) drop (dead)!

  • Suicunesol

I expected her to move a liiittle bit faster than this. She seemed more speedy in SS.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m waiting for some characters from older games to show up. I mean 2D era games. I’m most eager to see how the designs of old 2D characters are translated into 3D.

    • Snorlaxation

I’m honestly really hoping for some Oracle of Seasons/Ages characters, myself. But I guess we’ll see.

    • Armane

I don’t think we’re going to get any characters that aren’t from the “mainline” Zelda games. I’ll be surprised if we even get a Goron at this rate.

  • NeptuniasBeard

So… Fi… where the HELL was all this badassery when that horde was handing me my ass in Skyward Sword?

    • Namuro

Fi: “Well, you never asked me to fight, Master.”

But then again, Link can’t talk…

  • Kayriss Wins

Meh… she’s not as flashy as Lana or Agitha but I’ll check her out for sure. That’s like what? 5 female characters now? Dat Feminism get’s me hype!

  • Detrimont

    Reminds me of

  • Istillduno

Was kind of hoping her ability would just be talking to enemies with big unskipable text boxs until they get bored and go away like it was in Skyward Sword.

Oh, wait wasn’t that only ever used against the player?

  • Armageddon

    A living weapon? o_0

(This is meant as a joke)

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. Like Suicunesol said, I was expecting her to be faster. She seems to glide along at a slower pace, and then hurts enemies by summoning magic swords by dancing… kind of curious what alternative weapons she might have. Different Sword transformations? Divides herself up into four clones with the four sword? Put extra emphasis on damage by turning into the Biggorons sword? Though she did also look like she could make her sword-version grow, so that sword may be redundant…

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Although some say she should be faster, I personally love her gracefully elegance and style. Fi is literally performing a dance of death…and yeah I love that final sword thrust into the ground for maximum carnage.

  • TerrenceEncore Jones

I see a WiiU in future.

  • But does she have the power to say extremely obvious things? Can she point out my HP is low? Will she be more annoying than Navi?

Come on, Nintendo, you have to stick to canon Fi, here.

  • Kornelious

    Such Power, Such Grace! :D

Though a lot of people were skeptic of her, her move-set really seems to clear the room. So I think she fits in perfectly! :D

    • Sentinel

      Such disturbing brutality!!

(Points if you get the reference)

      • Kornelious

        …..The Last Story?

        • Sentinel

It was meant to be Hades from Kid Icarus Uprising. One of his lines is.

          “What grace! What disturbing brutality!”

I guess it was a bit obscure but I wanted to see if anyone would catch it.

          • Kornelious

Ohhhhhh ok…….Still haven’t beaten Kid Icarus so I guess that’s my fault :P

  • SlickRoach

Is she really as annoying as people say she is? Because Navi never bothered me in the slightest back in OoT so I don’t know how bad I’d find Fi to be.

    • Jiff

Navi was annoying in the sense of a constant UI reminder, but it was ignorable and easy to progress the game without using her at all.

Fi was annoying in the sense of that if you see her text box appear, prepare for exposition upon exposition…with more exposition. Her character was unique, but she droned on and on explaining things in a game not exactly known for its deep story or characters.

    • Snorlaxation

supposedly with Fi, it’s a case of Captain Obvious, all the time.
She constantly updates you on obvious information, like your health, which you can see for your self. Or so I’ve heard.

  • Steven Higgins

Lot’s of spinning and kicking. Called it.

    Fi love.

After my computer is upgraded I will be saving for a Wii U.
