So, we are getting 80% of EU PS+’s line-up? About time they do things nearly identical.

  • 3PointDecoupage

Its about time Dragons Crown showed up. Glad I didnt buy it.
But I also want Lego Potter…

    • Shippoyasha

DC is pretty worth owning though. It even came with a pretty nice artbook.

Not to mention the game can give you hundreds of hours of gameplay if you get hooked.

  • katzedan

    Dragon’s Crown shall be mine.
hope I can have fun playing this! :3

  • Hound

YES! I was actually considering buying Dragon’s Crown when I could happen across a copy for less than $20. Life has simplified <3

  • Rafael Martines

This month Vita users got Muramasa and next month Dragon’s Crown, buying a Vita was the best decision that I made

    • Superior Spider-Man

I have dragons crown on PS3 and was about to buy it for the Vita a day before this was announced. So glad I held back.

  • Prinny Dood

Does anyone want to play multiplayer dragons crown next week? Cause im looking for some players who will be getting the game.

    • X_Bacon

I do. I already have it but haven’t played with every class yet

      • Prinny Dood

Cool ill hit you up when i get it plus ill be getting arcana hearts on the vita when it comes out i love fighting games :D

        • X_Bacon

          Great! :)
Which timezone are you on though? I hope mine is not too far apart…

  • Brandonmkii

Oh well, nothing for me this month.

  • DesmaX

Oh, Dragon’s Crown for PS3 too?
Cool, might just sell my copy then

Crysis 3 is pretty nice too, been wanting to play that game

    • Rafael Martines

Is free for Vita only, the game is not Cross Buy

      • DesmaX

The Brazilian PS+ Blog says they’re giving the PS3 version too (I’m signed up for that one).

Of course, that could be a mistake too

      • X_Bacon

They said on the PS blog that both versions will be available anyway

        • Rafael Martines

Ah sorry, my mistake… now I see, the first time the PS3 was not there :P

  • Raymond

forget that. I will just buy dragons crown. Downloading ps plus free games kind of sucks.

  • Shippoyasha

    Quick Dragon’s Crown character descriptions:

Elf- Long range sniper class. Your own shmup character!

Knight- Literal hack and slash class. Heavily defense oriented. Very classical style.

Mage- Nuke-everything-on-screen class. A Michael Bay Production.

Amazon- High risk, high reward, wombo-combo destruction-of-the-ages character. Plays like a 2D Bayonetta/Ninja Gaiden fighter with her parry and evade system. You get hit very hard or you hit others extremely hard.

Sorceress- Jack of all trades character using tricks and powerful attack and support spells. Can change the game into something unrecognizable with some of her spells. Very fun and very technical character.

Dwarf- Straight out of pro wrestling. Grapple giant enemies, toss them around and deliver a mighty elbow drop from the heavens!

    • Richard N

I found Amazon to be really difficult to properly use in the post game stuff when everything got ridiculously tough. Maybe I didn’t use her correctly, but I always went back to my Elf who was proficient at hiding behind all the meat shields that were my online companions.

      • Shippoyasha

Oh yeah. Amazon is an extremely skill based character and things can get dicey in a chaotic battlefield. Both her and Sorceress are for pros only. I’m not saying that lightly. Though playing either characters could make you into a pro by making you learn all the intricacies of the combat out of necessity.

        • GOLD

          settled. Amazon it is!

        • z_merquise

I always find spellcasters (Wizard and Sorceress) difficult to play solo especially in higher-difficulties. But they’re very fun to play especially in multiplayer. Sorceress’ support-based spells are more effective in multiplayer.

      • z_merquise

Amazon is more of a “berserker-type” character with a high-risk/high-reward playstyle. Her defense is very low but she’s agile and had many high-speed, high-damaging attacks.
It’s always satisfying beating enemies left and right with her lvl.3 Berserk and max-leveled Brandish.

    • otakumike

I went Sorceress, the jiggle did not let me down. SUGGESTIVE FRUIT EATING!!!

    • WyattEpp

Dwarf is hilarious fun. Highly recommended.

  • Tincho Kudos

The ps4 lineup is a joke. Can the ps4 play the PS3 games given in PS+?

    • Hound

no. It cannot. Then again, the console is still short on titles, so it might be a long while before it can have an indie and highly reviewed game each month.

      • Jadfish

        this.

I’m honestly surprised the PS4 get ANY games in PS+ given it’s current lineup. I paid full price for Strider when it came out and was a little surprised that it was on last months PS+ lineup for EU.
And hey, I’m glad more people get to play Strider, but I’m honestly a little insecure about buying indie games on PS4 right now.

        • ishyg

I’m insecure about buying indie titles at all. I mean, I do want to support them and buy their stuff day 1, but most of the time I’m short of gaming money and then when I already have the money they end up being ridiculously discounted, or in the IGC.

          • darke

If I want to play a game “now” I’ll buy it; but if I don’t have time or it’s a “that looks interesting” game and I’ve got something else to do then I rarely bother. At the moment there’s so many games just being released or soon to be released I have to be choosy since there’s simply not enough time in the day. :)

          • ishyg

I agree. There’s just not enough time in the day, especially if you include work and time for your loved ones. I have a backlog of PS3 JRPGs that I can’t let go because I don’t have a PS3 currently, but I’m thinking that I probably won’t have the time to play it even in the future. Currently I just want to play with what’s in my hands, and most of it are IGC games.

          • darke

I’m still half way through half a dozen PS3 games that I might not ever finish, and I’ve got a couple of PS3s. :P

Granted at least one is because NISA can’t be bothered to patch their broken game (Witch and the Hundred Knight); but a number of them are because they require you to do fiddly contortions to make sure you ‘do’ or “don’t do” things to get certain story endings (Star Ocean, Ar Tonlce Qoga) or just require you to focus and be obsessed over every detail so you don’t waste time (Rorona and friends, but specifically Rorona >.< ).

I'm finding the only games I get through recently are those on the Vita I can play heading to work and back and during lunchtime; conveniently they also tend to be games that don't require you to be obsessive, and just enjoy the game itself.

          • ishyg

“I’m finding the only games I get through recently are those on the Vita I can play heading to work and back and during lunchtime; conveniently they also tend to be games that don’t require you to be obsessive, and just enjoy the game itself.”

I agree with this a hundred percent. This is also the reason why I’m not bothered if a game happens to be on PC and home consoles too, because obviously I can’t bring those and play while heading to work and back, and during lunchtime or just whenever I’m on commute and have nothing to do.

But yeah, I wonder what am I gonna do with those PS3 titles. I’ll try selling them out, or just give them to my otaku friend back in the Philippines.

          • darke

I’m actually thinking of getting one of the more recent Surface or other x86 tablets for more ‘mobile’ PC gaming actually; I mean it’s not going to replace a mouse and keyboard for more complex games, but at the very least touch screens are nearly made for non-competitive RTS gaming; you control almost everything with a mouse anyway. :)

Personally I’d probably keep the PS3 games, but I’m a bit of a packrat. I kept my old PS2 games that I never got around to finishing because my PS2 broke and ended up playing them a couple of years later on my PC when the PS2 emulator got good enough.

Maybe the PS3 emulators will be up to that level in a couple of years time; I imagine they’d be able to play some of the un-optimised titles from the earlier years on a reasonably powerful machine. Later ones will probably rely way too much on quirks of the architecture that are more problematic to emulate… then again most JRPGs and otaku games aren’t the most graphically challenging so even more modern ones might work fine on it.

          • ishyg

I’ll just send them back to the Philippines just in case; we’re running out of usable space.

Hmm a good point with the x86 tablets, but I’ve never had a good PC rig before, so I’ll try that first, maybe after the iMac ran out of juice. Currently we only use it for watching stuff so it is still quite useful, but only time can tell when its parts finally give in to the “pressure”.

          • Jadfish

if you don’t have a lot of spending money, don’t force yourself to be a day 1 indie supporter – even if it is a noble endeavour.

          • ishyg

I can’t even force myself. It just lands on my PSN account for no reason at all! Well, PS+.

Last indie game I bought day 1 was Shovel Knight, and that $15 on my eShop account was there for several months. Even then, I also kickstarted it, so I have the PC copy as well (that I just gave away to a friend that I was trying to convince hard that the game is awesome).

    • otakumike

Well I mean you could always go out and buy the games you actually want to play. It would help the devs out a lot actually. Yeah, I think it’s a good idea. Let’s all go support some devs huh?

      • Tincho Kudos

Well in that case I hope you don’t play any game for free, because hey, lets support some devs.

And the PS4 lineup IS a joke comparing to PS3 and even Vita.

        • otakumike

There’s a difference between playing games that came out a year or two ago for free and demanding Sony give you “better games” When the console isn’t even a year old yet. The games will come, be patient and please understand.

  • AndyLC

Dragon’s Crown is basically an indie game, created by a tiny studio making the games they want to make. George Kamitani is a hero of the games industry.

If you believe in heroes, then play Dragon’s Crown!!

    • Asura

      I don’t want to.

      • ishyg

        OK then.

      • AndyLC

It only takes one more to make it 4

  • Kornelious

The only game that looks good on this list is Dragons Crown, which pretty much makes up for the rest and then some :D

It’s probably no coincidence that this happens not to long after they reached almost 100,000 in sales! :)

    • Ruins72

      b-but FEZ…it’s a great game D:

  • z_merquise

Well it’s nice that more people can get to play Dragon’s Crown.

    It’s the best 2D beat-em-up for me.

  • Bigabu Beaze

Yo Spence I dont get the joke. What do you mean by “Why yes, North Americans… that is an image of Dragon’s Crown.” I’m not trying to be mean or anything I just dont get it.

    • Michael Fagerstrom

My guess is that he’s referring to a lot of NA PS+ members who were grumpy that EU got Dragon’s Crown and we didn’t.

      • Bigabu Beaze

Oh I see. I thought that he thought we didnt know what dragons crown looked up.

  • tubers

    Dragon’s Crown! Ah yeah!

  • Remlot

Sad that I just bought dragon’s crown a week ago but oh well, amazing game anyway so I shouldn’t regret it

  • buddyluv324

I’m still happy that I paid for the game full price on day-1 ( and the artbook that comes with it didnt hurt either!) Glad to see that there will be potential for more people to give this gem a go thanks to PS+

  • GOLD

NOOOOOICE! I win the waiting game. Dragon’s crown is mine. been wanting to try fez for a while now, and metrico intrigued when i saw it a while back, this is the first time i have heard about proteus but ill definatly give it a shot. This is the best ps plus month in recent memory for me.

  • GOLD

So does the vita version online or just ps3 version? I cant find info anywhere

    • Herok♞

      It goes online I believe

    • MXC

If you’re talking about DC then yeah it has online for both.

    • SolRevr

Yes, DC has online for both. It has cross-play between the systems as well.

  • Herok♞

Meh month for me I already have 3 copies of Dragon’s Crown(Vita physical and PS3/Vita Digital)

    • darke

I got it free on the EU, will have it free on the US, and I expect my JP PS+ account will probably get it free there too sometime next month. :P

I didn’t mind it when the EU and US actually had a different set of games regularly, but now the three stores have pretty much normalised I might as well drop my local EU/AU account when it runs out since there’s no real reason to keep it. :(

  • Dasheble

I wanted to try out Fez for a while but never wanted to buy the game because Fish is a huge asshole. So I guess this can be seen as a kind of compromise?

  • SakuStar Light

i can due with the vita Dragon Crown so this is an ok line up.

  • Codex

Pretty crap line up for euro tbh

    • darke

EU is the same as the US, except that Dragon’s Crown has already been released there free a couple of months ago. I recall the US getting a pretty average game as a replacement (wasn’t it a lego batman title or something; it must have been awful if I can’t remember it), so it’s not as if the EU is always disadvantaged. :P

  • MrRobbyM

Dragon’s Crown and Fez. Good lord.

  • Raoni Marques

Great line up this month! Already own Dragon’s Crown on Vita, but now I’m finally going to play it on ps3. And on my new TV! =)

  • KingGunblader

Another ‘meh’ month. I would try Fez, but the listing confuses me. Is it available for PS4, PS3 and Vita? Considering the only other PS4 game is Road Not Taken I suspect Fez is the other.

    • darke

Fez is a cross-buy title; so if they’re giving it away as a “PS4 title”, they’re also giving away the PS3 and Vita versions as a side effect.

  • James Reilly

I already got a physical copy of Dragon’s Crown, but nice to see this available on PSN+ now.

  • SuperSailorV

I’m never buying a Vita game at full price ever again.

    • darke

I dunno, isn’t it like pretty much every console/computer?

      * If you really want to play the game ‘now’, buy it on release.

      * If you don’t have the urge to buy it immediately or you don’t have the time to play it immediately if you do buy it due to other games coming out, don’t worry about it and it’ll probably pop up in a sale/PS+ in a few months to a year’s time if it’s good.

      * If you have spare time due to it being a quiet month for game releases or something, then grab a physical copy if you feel like it.

Maybe it’s just obvious because I’m primarily a PC gamer and this has become the de rigueur method due to the regularity of quick, and deep price-cut sales on PC in comparison to consoles where the sales usually take years to happen and it’s just an average price drop.

  • Jonathan Tse

Siliconera editors, the games are not available for free on every system (as I realized sadly last month):

    Vita: Dragon’s Crown and Metrico
    PS3: Crysis 3 and Proteus
PS4: Road Not Taken and Fez

    • Tinye

Dragon’s crown will be on ps3 Sony said

    • ishyg

Sony said on their blog that apart from cross-buy stuff, Dragon’s Crown will be available both on Vita and PS3.

BTW Can you elaborate what you meant about “last month”? Every cross-buy title on that list is available on the platform it was specified to be on. For example, Doki Doki universe is available on PS4, PS3 and Vita.

This month, I think Fez, Proteus and Metrico are cross-buy, so you can get them on the specified platforms. But other than that I think your breakdown is correct.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Of course the games aren’t free on every system. Crysis isn’t even on PS4 and Vita. :P

    • darke

The US list matches here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/07/30/ps-plus-preview-augusts-free-game-lineup/ with the exception of Metrico.

Metrico is apparenlty a PS Vita exclusive title according to the linked blog post: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/07/16/metrico-on-ps-vita-release-date-new-trailer/ so the PS3 seems to be a cut-and-paste error.

  • Daniel Thongdy

So can i download the PS3 version of dragons crown?

  • Hector Velar

well now Dragon Crown WILL reach the 1mill+

    • darke

A reasonable chunk of that was probably it being given away in the ‘EU’ regions a couple of months ago too. It’s too be expected though.

    • Jeremy Noble

      not with sales though :P

  • ishyg

I bought a $50 PSN card to buy games, but nevermind, I’ll just keep it there until a worthy purchase is up. That’s like, 4 games for the Vita, and I haven’t even finished Muramasa. Too much backlog. Ah, the joys and woes of adulthood and married life…

    • darke

Only recently acquired a girlfriend after too many years of depression-induced hikikomori-itits, and I’m rather surprised at just how much free time that has consumed, let alone married life/family stuff. :(

      • ishyg

LOL. Good for you. :) Time wasted enjoyed is not wasted.

Depression-induced anything is bad, I guess. Even gaming binges out of depression makes me feel more awful before, but that seldom happens.

        • darke

Well, the girlfriend and I met up because we were both just coming out of our depression, I’m in the ‘mostly recovered’ part of it, she’s at the start; so I guess, to a certain extent, there’s odd benefits of depression? :P

I never really had much ‘social energy’ to do anything ‘social’ for years, go to work->go home->internet/gaming/programming was about all I had the energy for; thought I was just ‘introverted’ turns out it was just ‘low-level’ depression. So while I can’t say I actually regret all the time I spent having fun programming rather then socialising, it’s taken years to learn how to interact in a social/casual environment in my 30s, that most people learn how to do in their teens. :?

I’m still re-adjusting my mental “bad things/good things” settings though; for instance my brain still seems to think it’s a ‘bad thing’ I’ll be over visiting her in Japan during the time that Akiba’s Trip gets released. I mean, really, how am I supposed to get time to play it? :P

          • ishyg

            That’s quite the benefit. :D

I’m impressed that you can still program at home. I can never really muster the energy to do so, or maybe it’s just that I’m procrastinating too much. And I’m also not a social person, I’m quite shy and introverted. Maybe I’m depressed too on some stage but never get to see a shrink. I can never fully relate to you (you’re in your 30s?) but I’ll be there with you saying I didn’t regret anything too. If I ever regret something, it’s that I’m spending way more time procrastinating. I’m having fun programming too, but sometimes and specially after work I just want to sit down and relax, but most of the time the relaxation part takes too much time. I enjoy it, but sometimes I feel like I should have done something more productive. I don’t really care about the socializing part that much, like I’ve said I’m kind of introverted. Not that I hate people, but sometime I just feel too awkward about myself. Maybe because I’m obese, or that I’m depressed because I’m obese, I don’t know.

She’s here? Wow. Well, why not go on an “Akiba’s Trip” on a personal level? Sure there won’t be any vampires, and it’s hot as heck here in Japan, but try to enjoy it. I can’t stand on moral ground though, as I have my case of those as well. For example, during long business trips I can get more gaming time after work (not to mention extra money from expenses allowance), so I’m looking forward to those, but then I miss my wife so much that I just want to go back immediately. Haha.

And thanks for reminding me that it’s about to come out. I’ve been waiting ages for that game (even though I shouldn’t because I’m in Japan already, but Nihongo). Now I have something worth it to use my $50, but then I want to opt for a physical release. Is there going to be a physical release for Akiba’s Trip?

          • darke

I’m a bit of an odd-job’s person at work; so if I’m doing a lot of sysadmin work, and little programming, I’ll usually find I want to do little bits of coding outside work. I’m poking around some unity3d C# stuff at the moment but I hacked together a python program a year or so ago to put together PDFs from English fan-translated light novels.

Yeah, turned 35 a couple of months ago. Honestly as far as “relating to people” in IT, I find age matters very little, I often find it’s easier to relate to the guys who started programming at university with punchcards on mainframes in the 60s then with people who got into IT recently in their 30s; the ones who start earlier in life tend to have much more of a “these are great toys” attitude, where people who got into them more recently and at an older age see them more as useful tools. But that’s all stereotypes and such. :)

Honestly it might pay to see a doctor… though, err, not necessarily a Japanese one; they still don’t really seem to understand depression well. :( I didn’t think I had depression either; just went to my doctor for a checkup one day and started mentioning that I’d always had a problem with lacking energy, feeling tired, not being very motivated to do things outside of work, socialise and stuff; he looked thoughtful ran me through a checklist like this: http://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts/depression/signs-and-symptoms/anxiety-and-depression-checklist-k10 and then sent me off to a psychiatrist specialising in low-level depression. No one believed me when I told them I was taking treatment for depression because I never had any signs of being ‘depressed’, but the medication and associated treatment helped a lot with actually being social again.

As far as Japan’s weather goes; the heat is fine. The city I live in has Tokyo’s summer weather for about 70% of the year, and “I should put a jacket on, it’s a little chilly” weather for the rest. I just tried to avoid visiting her home town (not anywhere near Tokyo, unfortunately) during the winter, since I’ve never even seen snow, so I don’t really have the cold-weather clothing for it. :)

Yeah, I’m too lazy to read (most) Japanese games too; mainly due to the tiny number of kanji I know (maybe 200?) causing me to do way too many dictionary lookups if I actually want to understand plot. I will go to the effort for random demos, and for games that are going to be censored, likely to hell-and-back, in their non-Japanese release. Not mentioning any names. >.<

Akiba's Trip is out on the 12th in the US. Physical plus digital, but no physical LE; they apparently spent the LE money on some impressive English voice work; though I'll probably be unable to play with it on as English Voice + Very Japanese Look just never works for me, a less anime/manga styled game would be fine. :P

          • ishyg

“But I hacked together a python program a year or so ago to put together PDFs from English fan-translated light novels.” This is BRILLIANT! I remember doing something similar (put together something out of something) on Excel via VBA, although work-related, but never got it done. Talk about dedication there for LNs. Lend me the Mahouka one!

“They still don’t really seem to understand depression well” Probably, what with the high rate of suicides and stuff, but that’s none of my business. Though I don’t really think I have a problem with depression now, maybe triglyceride-induced lethargy. And I can feel odd contractions on my heart, so I think the move to get my blood tested is a winner. 409 on the triglyceride levels, very alarming. Other than that, I can do most things, maybe I just can’t break my shell, with the obesity-linked lack of confidence and whatnot. BTW I scored 19 on that test. It says moderate. I’m not really sure what that meant.

Damnit, 12th, and Dragon’s Crown goes PS+ free on the 5th. Way too much games. But I’ll get Akiba’s Trip day 1. Localized Japanese games might be the only salvation for the Vita in the West, so I’ll do my part to support it, plus I’ve been really wanting to play the game since the PSP one.

          • darke

(Mahouka LN) They’re available linked from the baka-tsuki org forums. If you’ve grabbed a PDF from there before, it’s quite likely you’ve grabbed one of mine anyway; I’m the slacker that hasn’t updated in a month or two. Real Life has been interfering. :)

(depression) Possibly. I know I’ve put on about 15-20 kilograms since I started being treated for depression, apparently the pills do that to you and it’s near impossible to lose it (which I’ve tried, and they’re correct), and I’ve certainly noticed myself feeling more sluggish as a result. :P

(Dragon’s Crown) Yeah, I got this on my EU account a couple of months back, but I’ve been too lazy to switch things over to it (JP setup on my PSV-1000 and US setup on my PSV-2000, and no spare memory card to dump the EU onto and I’m lazy :P ), so I haven’t had a chance to play it.

Hopefully they’ll be some interesting things on sale as well this week. That’s one thing I do miss on the JP account, regular sales of random things to get me to buy them even if I probably won’t play much of it.

(Mahouka LN) baka-tsuki org…noted. I’ll check it there. Thanks!

(depression) Whoa. I’m already fat. I’ll be more depressed if I gained weight. Haha.

(sales) I’m hoping for some interesting stuff too. I was about to buy Rogue Legacy, then found out that the %20 off was only for pre-order. Bummer. Since I’m still playing Muramasa, I’ll just wait til I see other stuff go on sale, or just buy Akiba’s Trip digitally.

(depression/weight) Nah, if you’re already rather round, it’ll probably not be noticed, nor apparently do you put on as much. :) I started off tall-and-relatively-skinny, over 190cm and only around 90kg, then added another 20kg (I’m a bit over 110kg at the moment), adding over a fifth of my weight as a ‘beer belly’ is both noticeable and annoying. :P

(Rogue Legacy) I found that more miss then hit myself; platforming which I like, plus random rogue-lite gameplay (which I’m rather addicted to since I started playing rogue and the like decades ago), but it never quite clicked. But I think I got it on sale on steam for something like $5 so it’s no big deal. :P

The dev’s site has a windows PC demo if you’ve got at least a minimally competent one to test it on: http://roguelegacy.com/

(depression/weight) Believe me, people around me notice the subtle change in weight gain (not loss), and I don’t know how they do it. It pisses me off when they tell me you gained weight, and in fact I did (like a kilo) and it invalidates all effort I do to lose weight. If I lose weight, they don’t notice at all. But yeah, that’s quite noticeable if you’re tall. I’m a small man, so yeah I’m quite round and stuff lol.

(Rogue Legacy) I’ve tested it already, and it clicked on me so I plan on getting it. Eventually though, since I want to shave some of the PS+ backlogs firsts. Mobile gaming hinders me so. I don’t know, but I was caught on the gachapon game craze and here I am playing Brave Frontier. The art style is cute.

(depression/weight) What really perplexed me was when I was gaining weight on my anti-depressant tablets, people I hadn’t seen for 6 months or so would compliment me on how I looked and ask “have you lost weight?” even though I’d gained 5kg or so since I had last seen them.

I eventually figured that “he’s looking better/healthier” translates to “you get healthier when you lose weight” so rather then a “you’re looking much more cheerful/healthy/whatever, what’s changed?” I got “have you lost weight?”. :P

(backlogs) Yeah, I’ve accumulated a bit of a backlog with sales recently. I’ve finally nearly finished both Demon Gaze and Conception II from a few months back… and I’ve just recently bought Ragnarok Odyssey Ace and Deception IV on recent sales. Let alone the games on the PS3/PS4 I haven’t had a chance to really play since I don’t game much at home lately. :(

Anybody have opinions on the quality of Fez, Crysis, Proteus, and Metrico? They’re all new names to me, minus Crysis.

    • Soma

Fez is an awesome game. Kind of a unique platformer. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of it since it’s garnered all kinds of critical acclaim. Really glad that it’s going to be free for PS+. Here’s the site!

      • Skye Johnson

I don’t frequent a lot of gaming sites. Perhaps that’s why? Still, I”m surprised I haven’t heard of it either if it’s drawn that kind of attention. I don’t remember seeing an article on it on here, but that’s likely because I missed it.

Thank you though! It definitely looks neat.

Im kinda scared actually, those names look a lot like cellphone games name’s…

:-DDDDDD SWEET! More awesome games to play!

  • Pichu0102

Dang it! I just rebought Dragon’s Crown for the Vita!

Your profile icon looks how you must feel right now (;_;)

      • http://www.lrdalucard.deviantart.com lrdalucard

I though exactly the same! (Still, in sort-of-same-satiation)

    • darke

Yeah, I saw it on sale last week and didn’t bother since the Vita version was free on EU a couple of months ago, I was expecting after the sales this month, it would be free next month as the pattern has gone before.

Not only that you apparently get the PS3 or Vita version ‘free’ in a pesudo-cross-buy, since it’s not normally a cross-buy title as far as I understand. I guess it’s to placate people who bought one of them on sale the week before it was going to be free. :P

    • Jeremy Noble

i too know that feel. worth it though.

  • Anontastic

Hear that, PS+ subscribers? You no longer have an excuse not to have played Dragon’s Crown. Get on dat!

  • Ric Vazquez

Now there is no excuse not to get Dragon’s Crown.

  • http://www.lrdalucard.deviantart.com lrdalucard

I wonder whats worse… cellphone games on you handheld console, or LEGO games…

    • darke

Most of the lego games are overpriced and should be going for $10-20 rather then $40-60 at launch. They’re fun enough to play with kids to buy at the $10 range, but they exemplify the casual “you can’t lose” gameplay aspect.

Most cellphone games are free-to-install, but they’re either crap, or crap-until-you-pay.

I’d say they’re both equally bad honestly. :(

  • Kalis Konig

Wasn’t Dragon’s Crown Just on sale? Wow dick move brah. lol. I have had it since launch though and I have not even played it yet.

    • darke

Yeah, it’s probably the reason why they’re giving away the PS3 and Vita versions at the same time, even though they’re not technically cross-buy.

It’s not as if it’s unusual though, it’s pretty common for a PS+ game to be on sale a few of weeks before it’s released free on +.

      • zaidandzhadow

I was one of the hundred of fools who bought tomb rider on $5 just two weeks before it got to ps+

        • darke

Sales/give-aways are always a tough line to walk.

On the PC side, take a look at the steam holiday sales; I imagine their week-to-week average game sales plummet to near zero the couple of weeks before their holiday sale is going to happen. When they’re suddenly selling for $5 a AAA game that was selling for $40+ the previous week (a relatively common occurrence), it doesn’t feel much different from the “oh, I just bought that on sale” feeling when they decide to give it away for free. :(

  • SonicRulez

I let my Plus membership expire almost a year ago and I have yet to have a reason to renew it.

    • darke

If you don’t mind struggling with not understanding things, a Japanese PS+ account is worth it for all the old PS1 games they regularly release. Always fun when I feel like playing something weird and random and not really caring about what it is; kind of like trolling for random indie games on the PC.

But yeah, if you’re someone who buys games as you want them, a PS+ account really isn’t useful to you.

  • nathaniel

so happy i decided not to buy dragon’s crown last week

  • soulz

Finally Dragons Crown! Right when I was just about to buy it! Whew! Dodged losing 30 bucks!

  • Yaggyu

    so Dragon’s crown is free
