Reshiram, Zekrom And Milotic Will Appear In Super Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . July 31, 2014 . 11:00am

The Poké Ball is one of the returning items in Super Smash Bros., and tossing one onto the battlefield will result in a Pokémon coming out and affecting the fight or stage in some way. One of these Pokémon is Reshiram.

As always, director Masahiro Sakurai made the reveal in a Miiverse post. He also confirmed other Pokémon such as Zekrom and Milotic will appear in the game.

During a Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct presentation earlier in the year, Sakurai stated that legendary Pokémon come out from Master Balls in the game. It’s likely that on the rare occasion you’ll be able to find one inside a regular Poké Ball as well, but Master Balls contain legendary Pokémon exclusively.

Thus far, Arceus, Xerneas, Deoxys, Palkia, Entei, Keldeo and Victini are some of the other legendaries that have been confirmed to be in the game.

Regarding the screenshot above, Sakurai stated: “It’s close enough to the launch date, so I don’t have to describe this stage to you, right? The design of this stage is based off of the surroundings of someone’s castle.”

    Reshiram! Zekrom! And Kyu-huh?
Sakurai: Just throwing this in here.

Thinking about it, Kyurem is a Pokeball assist. But still… why Milotic? ORAS promotion?

More like it’s Zoroark in disguise.

feminist, this must be feminist conspiracy…

      • Lol, wait, why are we getting the blame? I mean, I’ll totally take the credit, but it seems like we get in trouble for everything now! x’D

lol Milotic? Of all the pokemon in Gen V? Shouldn’t it be Kyurem?

    • HarakiriKami

    • AuraGuyChris

Maybe it’s N’s Zoroark being a troll and having a personality.

Some people think it’s either a Zoroark being sneaky, or that N might show up and randomly release Pokemon, one of which being Milotic (gen 5 is the only gen so far to have Milotic in the wild).

I wonder if goldeen will return?

Thank you Sakurai! Please let this stage be on the Wii U too or Team Plasma style Pokémon League!

You could at least give credit to the artist whose pic you’re using to promote this news on Zergnet.

I wanted N playable in Brawl after seeing Pokemon Trainer, with N having different Pokemon…but now for the new Smashes, that obviously won’t be possible. So I kept hoping for him to be an assist trophy of some sort that maybe released random PokeBall Pokemon to cause all sorts of chaos, lol.

But this is seriously great. My favorite Pokemon character is finally getting some love in Smash ;u; <3 I really hope he shows up somehow on the stage…and I can't wait to find out how that mysterious Milotic ties in with the stage, ha ha.

Two things. I don’t think Reshiram, Zekrom and Milotic are Pokeball Pokemon. Rather, they’ll likely be stage hazards for this new stage (probably N’s Castle) much like Spear Pillar in Brawl.

Second, why Reshiram, Zekrom and Milotic, of all things? As strange as it seems, those three Pokemon have statues in Parfum Palace from X and Y. This is likely a little nod to that locale.

Kyurem, on the other hand, is confirmed to be a Pokeball Pokemon. It’s a little weird, but it all pieces together in one way or another.

Really good observation with the Parfum Palace statues!

I’m just glad Gen V isn’t getting completely forgotten here.
