Phantasy Star Online 2 Will Celebrate Singapore And Malaysia’s National Days

By Eugene . August 7, 2014 . 3:01pm

Both Singapore and Malaysia celebrate their National Days this month on the 9th and 31st of August. As part of their celebration, there’s a seasonal event running in the Asian English version of Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2.

Completing the quests given by above NPC Shea during both country’s National Days will net a player a country flag.

Singapore’s will run from August 7th till the 21st, while Malaysia’s will run from the 21st of August to the 4th of September.

During each country’s National Day period, the lobby will also be decorated with each country’s icons, such as the Merlion from Singapore.

Phantasy Star Online 2 is out now on PC in English in Asia.

    Bracing for localization begging.

I remember seeing this on Phantasy Star Fan Blog yesterday. Either way, my need for Phantasy Star can wait for a little while.

  • This is the version of the game THAT’S IN ENGLISH, yes?

    *grumble grumble* …so bitter… *grumble grumble* …stupid Sega… o(>< )o

  • Kaitsu

I think this is the only game Siliconera accepts when we complain about no localization. Because they feel our feel.

In fact there was one post where, at the end, it said “Keep on praying for that Western release, guys!”.

Kinda curious- what’s the Malaysian mascot from? The Singaporean merlion looks like it came from some old heraldic symbol, whereas that happy little chicken-thing looks a lot more contemporary in it’s design. Not to mention the happy little bunnies.

    • Shadow Rebirth

a flower or a lion would be Malaysia’s mascot. or i mistaken for symbol instead of mascot O.O

Haha nice there should be more localized celebrations like this in MMOs.

They should also do a Raya (Eid) theme celebration, featuring traditional malay costumes (with regards to Malaysia) :)

  • That’s pretty cool! Nice of sega to do something like that!
