This Week In Imports: Hyrule Warriors Slices And Dices

By Spencer . August 11, 2014 . 4:00pm

image Will Hyrule Warriors give Wii U a boost in Japan? While the Legend of Zelda series is more popular in the West, the Warriors series continues to grow in Japan. Hyrule Warriors marries Omega Force’s long running series with a variety of Zelda characters including Impa, Midna, and Ganondorf.

One difference is in Japan, Koei Tecmo Games will publish Hyrule Warriors making it the first Zelda game in Japan not to be published by Nintendo. Nintendo will bring the game to the West next month.

    Good luck, Hyrule Warriors!

I don’t think you’re the game the Wii U needs right now, but you look like a fun romp regardless.

  • colorblindnightmare

Gogogo! Hyrule warriors! Hit ’em hard and hit them fast!

  • planetofthemage

And people say there aren’t games on the Vita?

Weeks like this give me hope.

    • Bob Slim

The people that are saying that is west game lovers

    • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Maybe because all those games see a release somewhere else or are an enhanced port?
Trust me I own a Vita but this isn’t nothing to be hopeful of.

  • Nothing for me here. But only 9 days until I get to return to Elympios and see what’s up with Milla, Jude, Gaius and the others ( ^ o ^ ) /

I am curious to see how Hyrule Warriors performs for Nintendo x Koei though. Hopefully that’ll shake up the Media Create charts for a week, at least.

  • NeptuniasBeard

Being quite optimistic for Hyrule Warriors, I would wager around 150k first week, with the WiiU getting maybe 2-3k boost in sales

    • subsamuel01

That’s very optimistic for a Wii U game in Japan, I hope it sells that much.

    • That’s very optimistic. I’m going to say 60k, tops.

      • NeptuniasBeard

Challenge Accepted! And if I’m closer, then you owe me a space soda!

  • subsamuel01

Really hope Hyrule Warriors sells well

  • Adrian Duran

    RIP Robin Williams

He was a big Zelda fan, just wanted to give him a shout-out

  • DON’T REMIND ME! I want to forget about Hyrule Warriors until the local release. If I think about it now, I’ll watch all the Let’s Plays and other videos, spoiling myself until I can play it. Dammit! Why must the local release be so far off the Japanese release!? Only a month, I know, but my hype for this game is enough that a month feels like an eternity.

    • Vash bane

just because I love you so :D

      • Hey, give me some credit. I have enough strength to resist the temptation to watch that one. Now if you posted the first few stages, then it’d be a different story. xD

  • anthony apduhan

Hope Nintendo announces “something” at Gamescom maybe a character reveal or Fatal Frame V etc.

  • Vash bane

soo…was it ever stated that the guy with the spear was playable?
(there’s no gameplay vids of hyrule warriors yet…unless I’m typing in the wrong string of words..)

  • So… who wants to take bets on Hyrule Warriors’ first-week sales? I’m going with 60-70k at launch. I don’t think this game is going to be some sort of surprise hit.

  • Yan Zhao

Ultimately, even if this game dont sell well, it most likely will pickup later because Zelda U and Smash Bros are the console sellers, so once more people have Wii Us, they’ll most likely buy this later too.

Of course I hope this game is enough to move many Wii U units similar to how Mario Kart 8 did.

  • wahyudil

I want to see if Linkle is a secret character or just a concept …
