Challenges In The Wii U Version Of Super Smash Bros. Will Be Trickier

By Ishaan . August 27, 2014 . 10:59am

Above is a look at the Challenges area in Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai showed the area off on Miiverse and explained how it works.

“A panel in the Challenges area will unlock everytime you clear a challenge,” Sakurai wrote. “When you unlock a panel, you’ll see hints for unlocking panels directly adjacent to it on all sides.”

He continued, “And this time, each panel will unlock pictures related to the challenge. This is tougher than it looks, you know? The challenges in the 3DS version are a little on the easy side, but the Wii U version challenges might be a bit trickier.”

Super Smash Bros. will be released for 3DS in October. The Wii U version will follow this Holiday.

Not so keen on why they are making it easier for the 3DS version..

I love the puzzle like style though. It’s something I always wanted even though the series didn’t need to go there.

Didn’t they do a similar thing for challenges with the glass panels in Brawl? Or do you mean that they’ll form a picture? Cause from what I gather each panel is a different picture

I’m sure they are well aware that it will be an adjustment playing at our 100% full potential on 3DS. I haven’t been able to test any demos to see. I heard it feels pretty good, but after all, it’s very hard to break from GCC when you’ve been playing Smash since Melee release strictly on it.

Hyped for this still, but I know I will be somewhat “nerfed” on it, haha. Everyone will, so it’s cool with me.

      • Yea the 3DS wasn’t really designed for fightans in mind…

From what I’ve heard from the test demos, some stages have it where the camera zooms out so much that it’s difficult to see & properly participate in the action.

I can see how this could easily happen (I don’t have an XL,) so I’m just waiting for the next iteration

So I assume it’ll be like Uprising, where as you progress in the game/unlock stuff, you unlock more challenge pages? Cause there were like, well over 300 challenges in Uprising, having only 35 here is kinda weak.

If it’s anything like the previous Smash Bros. games, it will probably include multiple difficulty, and completing them would be the bigger challenge.

While i’m excited for both versions of the game, I feel like the 3DS version is sorta like…..a REALLY good beta and the Wii U version is the more definitive version, so this makes sense.
