Ugh this is going to be awful. Shadow of the colossus isn’t like Uncharted or Halo. It needs the game mechanics for it’s story to work.

    • Ferofax

Which a good CGI intro narration can easily cover.

  • MLSabre

Movie adaption of games usually never works. Pass.

  • 9breaker

    That sounds terrible.

  • Impressionnant

Hanna had an awful script. RIP any chance of a good movie.

    • Black Heaven

Yes let’s see them try the 3DMG on this guy…

No tall buildings, away from mountains, just the desert and the open skies.

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

lol. the only thing they need is shoot phalanx’s ball with GUNS. obce they get into its body it is pretty safe to say they will not fall

        • Black Heaven

Well he still spins around and shrugs you off. Then he slams down to the sands… ow wait that makes the job easier.

Yeah okay I guess 3DMG does make colossi hunting easier. If only Phalanx stays up in air where they can’t reach him.

          • Rayhan PromisedGallery

the only reason wande didn;t die is because of game mechanic lol. If it uses AoT physics (which is pretty realistic for the msot part), Wander would get his bone broken and dead easily in oneshot

      • César H. Sandoval

I managed to get the horse on top of him once, so 3DMG should be even easier lol

        • Black Heaven

Aw heck, really? Nyahaha that’s hilarious!
          Okay I give up. :p

3DMG may do make things easier here. Still my point stands, I really do wanna see them take on a flying leviathan.

          • César H. Sandoval

I also once felt form the Avion colossi at a great height just to grab him again when he flew below me in mid-fall and killed him. I felt like freaking DieHard that time

Man, such an awesome game… I hope the movie can give it some justice.

  • Mecha_the_Hedgehog

Please god no this game is a work of art and without going into it thinking like that its going to fail and loose the whole point. The budget that would be attached to this thing will make ever studio exec think big blockbuster mind set. God damn you Sony isn’t it enough that you cancel last guardian yet keep giving people hope by lying to them that its still being made you have to let Hollywood make some dreck adaptation.

    • Steven Higgins

Last Guardian isn’t cancelled, it’s just in a development crisis. And Sony isn’t the one MAKING TLG, it’s just on their platform.

  • Vash bane

hm I don’t know what to feel about this the game was awesome. I heard about the heavenly sword one but I thought it was just some rumor and never looked into it (that was before I found this site)

this is kinda intriguing to see what they will do (if they mess up fans will rage lol) …what’s hanna? XD and while the arcticle is on the subject was the heavenly sword one good?

  • Thrasher429

The only way I could even see this remotely working is if they abandon any idea of adapting the game itself and instead create a backstory for Mono and Wander. How they met, what their relationship was and what happened to her etc and have the end of the movie be the beginning of the game. Even then based on the script in Hana it would still be horrible.

    • Black Heaven

Holy cow! They have names!? >__<

On the subject of the movie… *why* is this a movie again? How did they ever thought that this grandiose yet silent adventure would somehow translate to a good movie experience? Or wait, they didn't talk to Michael Bay about this…. did they?

      • Venus in Furs.

  • Keiji Johnson

There’s a Shadow of the Colossus movie in the works?! O_O When did they announce that? And HOW can they possibly make a movie out of a game like this?

    • doubleO7

It was announced like 2 or 3 years ago, but we’ve haven’t heard much since. Until now, when they said they got a new director and writer.

They’ll have to condense it obviously. Maybe only have 3-5 colossi fights.

  • Kaitou21

How are you going to turn a 22 hr. long game with about <20 min. of dialogue into a feature length movie?

Hollywood y u fail and b so unoriginal?

    • Ric Vazquez

      I know right

    • doubleO7

Well, they obviously don’t have time to fight every single Colossi in a 2-3 hour movie. They’d probably just pick a handful of them.

    • They’ll add in a plucky sidekick, make the horse talk, put some scantily dressed women in, do some closeups of the hornbaby, it’ll be fine.

      • Ali

Don’t forget making it ‘gritty’ and adding a pointless villain to give the audience a sense of direction as to where to pent their negative feels

    • Travel Time – drastically cut I’d assume. As most scenes would end the travel scene by introducing a boss. And dialogue at that point wouldn’t really add or take as they never had much dialogue while traveling.

Boss scenes – with over 10 battles here, it might get lengthy. A lot of on screen battle scenes can range from 1 to 4 minutes. It would be easy to modify the battle scenes as a lot of the mechanic of learning the boss would be eliminated for screen time. They would still be there but in a more fluid nature that would match the pace if the movie

Dialogue – regarding dormin, the wanderer, and the group from the tribe. There’s not much dialogue at all lol

  • Göran Isacson

Huh, the Heavenly Sword movie is already out? Anyone here who’s seen it or got any thoughts on it?

  • Aemette

Mama was an amazing movie. After watching Mama we all knew what a great and fresh director Andy was. I’m really glad they’re handing this movie onto someone who hasn’t been consumed by that nasty Hollywood greed and who can still make movies that aren’t remakes of a movie that came out a few years ago or unoriginal altogether. I’m already getting excited~

  • Kroz

Idk…a lot of these movies either get stuck in limbo for ever or terrible when they come out.

They only one I have faith in is Rachet and Clank

  • Venus in Furs.

Or you could just not make a movie of Shadow of the Colossus and keep everyone happy. Why won’t studios hire filmmakers to make original films anymore?

    • Altumn

    • Steven Higgins

Because there ARE no more original ideas, Everything is inspired by something else.

  • Kornelious

Wait, Shadow of the Colossus is getting a movie!?…..That certainly sounds interesting, but they’re gonna need a BIG budget to capture the essence of the game……

  • Steven Higgins

Wait, that’s still happening? I assumed it was canned.
