Renegade Kid Can Now Make Sequels To Their Survival Horror Game, Dementium

Back in 2007, Renegade Kid released a survival-horror game for the Nintendo DS, titled Dementium: The Ward. Following its release, the game quickly went on to pick up fans through good word-of-mouth, and was followed by a sequel three years later.

The catch is, the first Dementium game was distributed by Gamecock, and the second was  handled by Southpeak Interactive (who also published the first game in Europe), with whom sequels were “tied up,” according to Renegade Kid founder Jools Watsham.

Southpeak also went on to commission a PC version of Dementium II, which was created by Digital Tribe. Renegade Kid were not involved with this version of the game.

This week, Watsham announced via Twitter that Renegade Kid now have control over the Dementium I.P. once more. “I am ecstatic to announce that Renegade Kid now has the rights to create Dementium sequels,” Watsham tweeted.

Prior to his announcement, Watsham had been tweeting about Rage, id Software’s first-person shooter, which he seemed to be enjoying greatly. Following his time with the game, he tweeted: “A game like Rage on the 3DS would be amazing, wouldn’t it!? Man, imagining Dementium 3 with a Rage-like gameplay structure is awesome. Scary Rage. :)”

Of course, a Dementium 3 probably isn’t going to go into production until Renegade Kid wrap up their other Nintendo 3DS games. Thus far, they have the remaining episodes of Moon Chronicles, their upcoming Metroid-like Xeodrifter, and Treasurenauts in development for the portable.
