Ludum Dare Winning Platformer The Sun And Moon Is Heading To Vita

Daniel Linssen has announced that he’ll be bringing his momentum-based platformer The Sun And Moon to PlayStation Vita in 2015 after its initial release on PC in October 2014.

The Sun And Moon started out life as an entry to the 48-hour game jam Ludum Dare 29. It was actually voted the winner of that game jam out of 2497 entries in total, so that’s no small feat. You can still download the jam version for Windows here.

What’s unique about The Sun And Moon is that it’s a platformer in which you can dive into the platforms you stand upon. Inside the platforms gravity is reversed, so you can weave your way in and out of the platforms to gain momentum and reach great heights or reach deeper into the ground.

The goal of each level in The Sun And Moon is simple: collect the three orbs and jump into the wormhole. This gets tougher to accomplish as you progress through the game’s 150+ levels as the heights you need to reach stretch further and further, and more spikes are added to trip you up.

Fortunately, this isn’t the type of game that traps you in a single level stuck for all eternity. It has non-linear progression, so you should always have a handful of levels to try to beat, moving between them whenever you do get frustrated with one.

The Sun And Moon will be released for PC through Steam on October 31st. The Vita version won’t arrive until early 2015. You can find out more about the game on its website.
