Five days after its release, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has shipped over 2 million copies in Japan, Capcom have announced. That includes the number of copies shipped to retailers, and digital sales via the Nintendo eShop and eShop download cards.

Capcom say that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has recorded strong sales among new players as well as existing Monster Hunter fans.

To further promote the franchise, Capcom will hold an event called “KariCon – Let’s go hunting with MH4G,” starting in October. This event will be conducted jointly with Linkbal Inc., which operates large-scale dating events called MachiCon, and will be held in five cities across Japan.

Additionally, the 2015 Monster Hunter Festa event will begin in January 2015.

As previously reported, Capcom aim to ship 3.9 million copies of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate worldwide by March 31st, 2015.
