Persona 4: Golden Joins Vita’s Greatest Hits Lineup In Japan Next Year

By Spencer . December 5, 2014 . 12:32am

image While Persona 4: Golden can be picked up for about $20 in the West, the Vita version is actually quite expensive in Japan. Used copies go for around 4,200 yen ($35), but that should drop soon.

Amazon Japan has a listing for a Persona 4: Golden PlayStation Vita the Best edition scheduled to come out on February 5, 2014 and it will cost 4,298 yen. The Best series is essentially Japan’s "Greatest Hits" label, but games have a yellow striped box instead of a red striped one. That might actually match Persona 4: Golden’s cover art.

Aww come on people, he’s being sarcastic.
        No hard feelings people.
And thou, it is true. I do like the Vita but its a fact that almost no games are coming out for it, just like the Wii U(Wii U is in a worse situation).
So yeah, no hard feelings people.

        • ThatGuy3190_7

No games have been coming out for Wii U and Vita? Where have you been for the past 5 months?

          • JMaster3000

I’m talking about the future. Both consoles could have more games.

          • ThatGuy3190_7

Again, where have you been for the past 5 months? This year even? Wii U and Vita made more games than PS4 and Xbox One, and a variety of games that aren’t FPS.

          • Mr_SP

There is a few, but you have to admit that they aren’t exactly AAA titles. The biggest games to come out for the Vita in the last six months are Tales of Hearts, and Danganronpa 2. The games Vita owners have to look forward to in the next 3 months are ports, and Hyperdevotion Noire. It is a strange line up, devoid of the big names of western gaming.

That said, so many of them are things that I want to play, (and, obviously, are enjoyable) that I have a backlog, increasing faster than I can clear it.

          • ThatGuy3190_7

I think that comment was meant for JMaster3000. I have enough Vita games that will keep me busy until the next non-port game is released, even still, some of the ports that are being released are ones I’ve never played before. The Wii U also have enough great games that makes me want to buy it now. For the PS4 and Xbox One however, I still don’t want either because it’s mostly nothing but shooters, and that hasn’t been up my alley since when they all started to look and feel the same.

          • Mr_SP

The number of games, alone, that a system has is not the important deciding factor. I wouldn’t say that people should like a game about punching girls until all their clothes fall off, yet Senran Kagura is one of the currently popular Vita games. Vita has a good number of those “doesn’t appeal to many people” games.

          • ThatGuy3190_7

Could we say the same about the PSP? With the piracy issue aside, I’d say that the handheld has at least one game that appeal to many people but it’s very few and far between. From the top of my head, I can only recall Sims 2, Little Big Planet, and the obligatory sports games.

          • Mr_SP

Absolutely. I barely played my PSP, outside of a few choice titles – FF Tactics, Jeanne D’arc, a few imported titles. I didn’t even play the PSP Persona games on Persona – I only have the digital versions on my Vita.

          • Harry Potter

freedom wars ? neptunia rebirths? akiba’s trip bordelands 2 thafs all i got there so many upcoming releases though

          • Mr_SP

Borderlands 2 is a port – a port that struggles to work on the Vita, if what I hear is correct. Freedom Wars looks nice and all, but it was released at a budget price, so I’m not exactly sure where it lies – cheap A, but not AAA, I guess? Neptunia Rebirth is totally a port. 2, at least, is nearly the same, plus a couple bonus features. 1 might be sort of a remake, I guess, but it’s taking a lot of resources from the PS3 games, rather than remaking them.

And, no, a clothing stripping game set in Akihabara is not a AAA title. And the PS4 version will be better, anyway.

      • michel

I can understand you, but tokotamer is sort of right… Let’s say that if Vita had more games of P4G quality, it would have been better for everyone, including Sony.

      • Harry Potter

you got my thumbs up man

  • magicalfollower

    So…what about Persona 5, Atlus?

    • AlphaSixNine

Uhh… in 2015? What exactly does that have to do with this? Are you thinking this is Atlus milking P4 again? This just a recognition for the game for being a best seller. So they’re printing more copies of it, in budget price:

      See here:

      • magicalfollower

Well, i’ve just thought they could make one more announcement before the year end.

        Just that simple.

        • ThatGuy3190_7

Atlus already said that they will release more info about Persona 5 when it is time, so give it within this month to February. The year isn’t even over with. And as for Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei, the director of the game (it’s not the Persona team) reported during the summer that they are still working on it but cannot say much of anything else.

  • kuzuha

Ugh, I’m happy but I hoped for 2800yen price…or at least 3800yen… Still better than that scary ~7000yen price tag for a new game.

  • Meteo

now only if they would release this game on any other system. I cant justify buying a vita just for this game…

    • My exact sentiments

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

The argument of: “Now, only if [Company you don’t like] would release [best seller of system you don’t like] on [system of choice here]” is one of the most pointless arguments of the Internet. Every system has its games, if you want to play it, buy the console~.

      • Meteo

Its not pointless at all. For example GTA V was originally only on PS3 and XBOX and never had any plans for a PC release, but since there was enough demand for it, they decided to make it happen. And who knows, in the future, they might port this game to another system like they did with the first 2 persona games.

        • DesmaX

Eh, GTA always done that. They say it’s not coming, but it does come in the end

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Persona 1 was never ported, it was remade. Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment and Persona 3 Portable were half remade with some extra content on the side~.

But if it’s not absolutely pointless [which it is] then by all means, I expect you to ask from now on for every single Nintendo game to be ported to PC. I mean, there’s lots of demand for it so they will probably decide to make it happen. No~?

No. They won’t. Exclusives exist for a reason. I repeat: if you want a game, buy the system. Give it a chance, you may even like your PSV just like we all do. And if you don’t want one, then accept the game is exclusive to a platform you choose to skip on~.

          • Meteo

            Persona 1 was never ported:
No, persona 1 was ported, or enhanced port is probably a better term, to PC with some extra features, thought it never made it outside Japan.

Im not sure why you are bringing Nintendo into this but you are taking my argument to the extreme. Things do happen when enough people ask for it. Dual-audio for the Atelier and Tales games for example were added due to people demanding it and I’m sure I’m not the only one that wants to see P4G on another system.

No. They won’t. Exclusives exist for a reason:
Wrong, exclusives dont stay exclusives forever. For example, Tales of Vesperia was “exclusive” for xbox, until the ps3 version came out. You cannot say for certain P4G will never appear on another system.

And I do plan on getting a Vita eventually, though not right now.

        • Harry Potter

its not really ported its a spin-off

    • planetofthemage

There are actually a ton of good games on the vita — it has a bad rap for not having any big western titles, but there’s a bunch of good JRPGs and ARPGs besides Persona.

    • Harry Potter

if you buy a vita you can play the whole trilogy P1 up to P4

    • cirE

I couldn’t justify a $200 Vita for just this game, but I totally could justify an $80 PlayStation TV for just this game.

      • Harry Potter

thats why vita has few games because of no sales

        • cirE

You don’t think Vita TV is a Vita? Okay…

          • Harry Potter

yeah because its like 3DS to 3DSXL

  • Histirea

Persona 4: Golden: the Best: Platinum Edition: Ultimate Bundle: Limited Edition Colon Cancer Box Set.

  • 愛憎

Finally! Holy shit. I couldn’t believe that after a couple years, it was still 6000 at Bookoff. I guess I’ll actually get it, then.

  • Satoshi Ookami

    Oh damn… should I buy it…
    For HanaKana… it sounds tempting…
