See How Animal-Based Action Adventure Overgrowth Looks After 6 Years Development

Recommended Videos

Wolfire Games has been working on its animal-based action adventure game Overgrowth since, at least, 2008, which makes it six years old now.

The latest development vlog (which you can watch above) details some of the recent changes to the game. One of the coolest features is how Wolfire has implemented different types of stealth for the various species of playable animal. So the rabbits use leaping surprise attacks, cats move really quietly, and rats can use environment camouflage.

Another feature detailed in the video is the procedurally generated idle stances. This gives guards on patrol, who may be standing around quite often, a less mechanical look and feel when you’re sneaking up on them. It’s also noted that this will come in handy for dialogue scenes as it will give characters better, perhaps more believable expressions.

You can watch the full video for more changes, or consult the change log on the Wolfire website for a list of changes to the game’s current alpha build. If you want to get access to the current alpha then you can pre-order Overgrowth on its website or grab it on Steam Early Access for $29.95.
