As of 1pm Eastern today Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been live and launched at Steam. Of course it’s been quite some time since the January 2012 console launch of Final Fantasy XIII-2, but its making its way to Steam for a much reduced price of $19.99. Not bad, but you can make it $5 cheaper with a 25% off coupon at GMG. Only deal around right now from a digitally authorized retailer.

As long as we’re on sequels topic, Tales of Xillia 2 dropped to $19.99 today at Amazon. That’s the lowest price ever and half the usual $39.99 MSRP. Not bad when you consider the game released back in August 2014 for $59.99.

Plenty of other discounts available this week, but one more notable that the others might be Best Buy’s classic Buy 2 Get 1 Game Free Sale launched in time for the holidays. Over 800 games to thumb through including Fall 2014 releases like Dragon Age: Inquisiton, Destiny, and GTA V. Notably absent are Wii U and 3DS games, but still a worthy offer.

tbh Xillia 2 being $20 is no big deal since it was $20 for Black Friday weekend. >_>

  • SiXXXtySiXXX

Got GTAV, Dragon Age, and Halo MCC from Best Buy’s deal.

  • FFXIII-2…good memories with that game. The FFXIII series is one of the best in the FF franchise. Very good games, though I feel Lightning Returns was a little half-assed just for the sake of the fans but -shrugs-

    • Simon

      you actually enjoyed the series?

game play is pretty solid. i give it that.

but i was cringing at the plot the whole time I platinum all the games.

FFXIII ended nicely. XIII-2 and Lightning Returns. felt unnecessary and at times I don’t fully follow where the plot is going. all that time travel and parallel universe and all that. god and goddess non-sense.

game play is pretty solid. i give it that.

      • I actually really enjoyed the series too. Well, not Lightning Returns for the most part. The battle system was great and the soundtrack was top notch, but everything else was pretty bad. I did enjoy the other two games a lot though, especially for the battle system. The plot got really weird and nonsensical, but I liked the characters and I was glad they got to live happy in the end.

Overall, I thought they were pretty good Final Fantasy games. Sometimes it just takes a few things to make a game worth it.

        • I bought the OST for LR assuming I’d like it and…I only liked…like 2 songs. I was really disappointed since I loved the entire songlist of the prior OSTs. The music was missing something important that the other games had.

I also kinda enjoyed LR’s ending but I think that just got handed to us to shut us up. They were already getting flack for “dragging” out FFXIII in the first place and then FFXIII-2 ending was like a slap in the face for some people. I wonder if they could change it, or rather, if they wanted to, what the actual ending would be like.

      • I thoroughly enjoyed it and I wasn’t expecting to at all. ESPECIALLY the soundtrack. One of the best I’ve heard!
Why cringe?? FFXIII was a blast to platinum. There was never a cringeworthy moment to me? -trying to remember- I’m not being biased, either. lol
I will agree that things did in fact get a little weird with LR. I think SE was just looking for a way to conclude the game, though. After all the hate they got from FFXIII-2 ending, they felt compelled to give the chars (and in turn, the fans) what they wanted. I mean, even Noel got Yeul back which I thought was a little too far-fetched but whatever. I wish there was like a true ending or something ’cause I doubt it’d be anything but positive. I dig sad/realistic endings.

    • The worst thing about Lightning Returns was the side-quests. Some of the most mindless, tedious nonsense I’ve ever experienced in a game. Wouldn’t have been so bad if the entire game wasn’t built around them.

      • I’ll agree, the sidequests were definitely chores. But I think that was SE’s way of making the game completely non-linear in a sense. I don’t think they ever want to hear that word again lol.
FFXIII-2-The ending was a load of BS to me at first. I remember playing that part differently to see if I somehow got the bad ending or whatever but nope, that was ending….and it was canon. lol I was upset but at the same time, a little happy since I knew a sequel was coming.

  • I’ve wanted to play XIII-2, but I never felt it was worth getting, maybe if it’s on steam it’ll drop in price enough during seasonal sales for me to give it a go. I did enjoy XIII to a point, it wasn’t as terrible as some people make it seem, but it wasn’t amazing or anything either.

    • It’s worth getting. The OST is really fuckin’ good, too. lol
