The team creating the coming-of-age comic adventure game Night In The Woods has released a wintry supplement game called Lost Constellation that you can download and play for free on PC.
“This is a supplemental game, which is to say it’s not a demo or a preview of Night In The Woods. In some ways Lost Constellation is a lot like NITW, but in a lot of ways it’s not. It’s a tangent, a side-story, a way for us to explore a bit in a more off-the-cuff manner,” writes the team.
Lost Constellation is framed as a ghost story that’s being told to Mae, the main character in Night In The Woods, and so it flits back and forth between the storyteller and the actions inside the story itself.
In the story, you play as an astronomer alligator as she wanders into a mysterious woods as part of a search on the Longest Night. You’ll meet a cat, build snowmen, and set skeleton arms on fire but you’ll have to play it find out why.
There aren’t really any puzzles to solve as it focuses on story and the characters you meet. The plucky mouse you meet standing on top of the Forest God’s totem is particularly memorable.
