Assassin’s Creed Movie Delayed To December 2016

20th Century Fox have announced release date for a number of their upcoming movies, including Assassin’s Creed. Starring Michael Fassbender, the movie has been delayed from its 2015 release to December 21st, 2016. (Thanks, Superhero Hype)

Very little is actually known about the Assassin’s Creed movie at this point, although Fassbender did say to IGN a few months ago that the creators wish to remain true to the original videogames the movie is based on.

“There’s so much cool stuff in the game that we’re actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can’t, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game,” Fassbender said.

Fox also confirmed that a movie based on Gambit of the X-Men will premiere on October 7th, 2016, with Channing Tatum playing the role of Gambit. Meanwhile, Fantastic Four 2, a sequel to this Summer’s reboot of the Fantastic Four, is scheduled for June 2nd, 2017.

As long as they don’t change too much and drifts off of the original story, I’m watching it day one.

  • Seth Rich

So does this mean we face a future of twelve Assassin’s Creed movies? If so, Unity should be a bland musical, Black Flag’s Edward Kenway is re-casted as the enigmatic Christopher Walken, and Nicholas Cage inexplicably shows up in every time line. Hollywood should be paying me for this!!

good because its gonna suck trust me lol

  • Why the fuck do we need a REBOOT of Fantastic Four? WHY?! What the hell was wrong with the recent one? Can we FINALLY at LEAST have a movie on Wonder Woman please?

And Channing Tatum, no matter how hot he is, makes me barf as Gambit. Gambit wasn’t a pretty boy, he was a cool, sly bad ass. (Not to say bad asses are just straight up ugly, but you know what I mean)

Don’t get me started on the AC movie, Hollywood is incompetent when it comes to making video games reality.

The original Gambit they got in that Wolverine movie was perfect. They really shouldn’t have thrown that actor away. He’s not only a fantastic Gambit, but a fantastic actor.

      • Yes, I should have mentioned that, Taylor Kitsch was fine.

        • Shippoyasha

More than fine, even. He was actually pretty fantastic. It’s not his fault that his role wasn’t used right. His costume, or lack thereof was a terrible choice as well.

          • I agree on the role and the costume…I haven’t seen Kitsch in many movies but will look out for him.

        • Princess_Eevee9

I thought it was odd that they threw Gambit into the movie yet he had little screentime. And I was confused as to why he was there in the first place. Not complaining just curious.

          • Yeah, it was like a cameo more than anything. lol

i dont know how they are gonna do gambit when wolevrine origins was retcon as to never happen due to the time travel in dofp. that means logan never met gambit

wonder woman movie comes out around 2019. f4 was rebooted because sony is stupid. they already have f4 sequel planned in 2017 and its not even out yet

      • Lol. Wow. I can’t wait to see it. Yet we’ll be getting Superman vs. Batman and The Amazing Spiderman’s Web Slinging Tea Party 4 in the next couple of months.

” f4 was rebooted because sony is stupid.”
        I lol’ed.

wonder woman is in bmvsm and i dont care for zack zynder’s movies or dc verse. mos was decent at best. i dont think dc does their heroes justice so im skeptical about a ww movie

          • Yeah, but I’d like a movie about just her. Not a movie featuring her. And there is a chance they may get a new actress for the movie so :l

    • Codename: D.A.V.I.D.

The reboot was done primarily to cut the budget, it reduces the “necessity” for the film to surpass the previous one, also new actors means new contracts with less strings attached ($$$), new settings to try to reduce special effect costs and to revisit easily plot points. It’s the same reason Sony Pictures decided to drop Spider-Man 4 in favor of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

Edit: Oh, and it’s being filmed in a ‘rushed’ fashion to prevent Marvel to get the characters’ film rights back, 20th Century Fox has a set of time in place to produce one every couple of years.

      • I kinda asked the question rhetorically, but thank you for actually answering it. My point is that Hollywood is just rehashing the same old comics. Spiderman was great, Batman was great (all 60 of them, I even liked the films starring Michael Keaton and George Clooney) Superman was great etc. You get my point. I’d like to see other characters get on the silver screen and among them was Wonder Woman, she should have been had a film out.

I just wish they’d stop with the “reboots” and continuous pointless storytelling (Origins: Wolverine was a little “unnecessary” to me) and actually give other heroes a chance. It’s redundant and annoying. I also understand these movies are primarily made to make money and all that jazz but still.

While others gave you more valid arguments, I’ll just tell you a dumb reason: Jessica Alba ruined Invisible Woman by trying to sexualise her in an ugly way.

This my idea of what Sue Storm should look like… The one on the right. The one that kinda looks like Samus from Metroid.

      • Yeah, I wouldn’t have cast Alba as the Invisible Woman…It was very clear she had on blue contacts and she looked a little strange as a blond.
I’m not saying Sue Storm had to be the whitest woman on the planet but the contacts were just cringeworthy; it looked more like a cosplay than an assimilation of the real thing. Nevertheless she is a great actress.

        • Stephen Mc Devitt

I don’t like the way she looks. Too sexualised and I rather someone who actually looks cool.

  • JustJam

In short, production for the movie doesn’t begin till later this year.

  • ronin4life

They need extra time to get all the faces ready.

  • Justin Kurzel’s debut feature, “Snowtown” (it’s on Netflix!) was fantastic – one of the best and most disturbing “serial killer dramas” I’ve ever seen – but it definitely did NOT have the ingredients of a blockbuster hit. It’s bizarre to think of him going from that to a big-budget video game adaptation, but hey, if it gets his name and reputation out there and gives him more freedom to make the films he wants, then I’m all for it.

  • Kroz

And then once it comes out, we will get one every year.

  • nox400

Probably needs more time to fix all the glitches
