Strength Of The Sword Ultimate Is An Enhanced, Extended 3D Brawler For PC

Two-man Bulgarian studio Ivent Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for an enhanced and extended version of its PS3 fantasy brawler Strength of the Sword 3 that will be released on PC as Strength of the Sword Ultimate.

It adds more armor and weapon customization features for your character,  as well as a ridiculous “cannon-sword” that is basically a huge gun with a bayonet on the end. At $50,000 in funding, Dark Gods would be added to the main Story mode as challenging side missions.

Ultimate will also add three new game modes to the base game. The first new mode is a PvP battle similar to Nidhogg’s in that each player has to reach the other player’s castle at the far end of the map. Each time the enemy is defeated their respawn point is pushed back.

The second new mode is an extension to PvP called Dark Mode. If you’re doing really good at PvP then you’ll face a dark swordsman. Defeat them and you’ll get a dark token. Once you’ve collected three of these dark tokens you can then become a dark swordsman yourself. The catch is that your health does not regenerate between matches but you do get dark powers, which should be a big help, except you’ll have to find out how to use them on your own.

The third new mode is a co-op survival mode. As with the original single player survival mode, you’ll take on up to 40 waves of enemies with increasing difficulty, but the AI has been upgraded to take on two of you at once.

Ivent Games is looking for $14,000 to fund Strength of the Sword Ultimate for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It could also come to PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PS Vita if $100,000 in funding is reached. A digital copy of the game can be yours for $10 on the Kickstarter.

Strength of the Sword 3 originally came out for the PS3 back in 2013. It’s a 3D brawler with a medieval fantasy world. You play a mechanical knight sent from the heavens to defeat evil sweeping the land. In battles, you have to manage stamina, movement, mana, shields and ammunition while looking for openings to strike.
