A Game About Being Your Dad And Slaying Anti-Dads

Rocket Cat Games has revealed that its next game is called Dad By The Sword. It’s described as “a game about YOUR DAD running around in jorts and slaying Anti-Dads with a claymore.”

Played from a first-person perspective, you have to battle through randomly generated dungeons, praying at Dad Altars to gain dad perks (“Derks,” apparently), and finding dad accessories to gain new abilities.

Most notably, the combat in Dad By The Sword requires precision while being intentionally goofy. If you slice an arm it will pop off and bleed profusely but the enemy will still pursue you. Chop off their head, however, and they should stop in their tracks.

Before you can get to that point you’ll want to find weak points in their armor, though, and while you’re trying to do that you’ll want to also avoid being sliced up yourself, of course. It seems the precise swordplay is mixed up in other ways as the video above shows that you can also unlock doors by thrusting the sword at the lock.

Oh, and Dad By The Sword has character creation which is, apparently, doubles up as a paternity test. It’ll be coming to Windows, Mac, and Linux later this year. You can find out more about it on its website.
