The Levels In Spider: Rite Of The Shrouded Moon Are Affected By Your Local Weather

Two-person team Tiger Style has announced that its 2D mystery platformer Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon out now for PC and iOS. It will also be heading to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Android afterwards.

Rite of the Shrouded Moon is the sequel to 2009’s Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor and the next game after Tiger Style’s critically acclaimed sci-fi platformer Waking Mars. It has you playing as spider, weaving webs in order to trap insects to eat, while exploring an old mansion and solving puzzles to discover the secrets it holds.

While the game has 30 levels, not everything inside of them can be obtained immediately, as the game has a “real time” and “real weather” feature. This means that the game knows where you are in the world and uses that information to tweak the game’s world to match what’s outside of your window. If it’s night time when you’re playing it will be night in the game. If it’s raining where you are then it will also be raining inside the game. These different conditions affect what you’re able to access in the game’s levels so you’ll want to revisit the game at different times and weather conditions.

“An estate built by a secret society for a mysterious purpose. A genius inventor, a brave child, and an adventurer of the high seas. Insanity, secret passages, coded messages and a faulty time machine,” reads the game’s description. “Slip under floorboards and through keyholes for a spider’s unique perspective on this dramatic tale told without words. You’ll need to be a clever arachnid explorer indeed to solve each of Spider‘s seven enigmatic puzzles.”
