Cook Up Tasty Treats With Square Enix And KitFox’s Moon Hunters

Recommended Videos

Cooking has become a tradition in role playing games. The Tales, Star Ocean, Monster Hunter, and Suikoden series all allow players to make meals, as do many Vanillaware titles. KitFox Games’ Moon Hunters, a member of the Square Enix Collective, will also possess this feature.

The $75,000 Kickstarter goal for Moon Hunters was a Cooking System, which was met and passed. On the PlayStation Blog, KitFox talks about how this improves the experience. While in the camp screen, players can go to the boiling pot on the fire to begin cooking. This brings up a menu that allows two different ingredients to be combined. As in Vanillaware and Monster Hunter games, the completed and consumed meal provides assorted boosts to everyone in the party, depending on the meal.

Ingredients to create Moon Hunters meals are accumulated in many ways. As in Monster Hunter, they can be found off of fallen prey. However, it’s also like Tales in that players can buy food to make into other food from shops. Sometimes, even talking to NPCs will result in additional items.

Moon Hunters  is a cooperative RPG that tasks between one and four players with searching for a moon goddess. It will be released on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, with the console version set to arrive in spring 2016. The handheld version does not yet have a release window.
