Durante’s Tales of Symphonia GeDoSaTo Plugin Removes The Resolution Lock

Tales of Symphonia’s PC port has quite a few things wrong with it. One of them is a resolution lock. No matter what you set as the in-game resolution, it’s going to all look the same. Which is why Peter “Durante” Thoman has released the Tales of Symphonia GeDoSaTo plugin to remove the resolution lock.

This is a preliminary fix that works with Durante’s GeDoSaTo utility, which you can grab for free from the Metaclass of Nil Blog. It removes the lock, so you can enjoy the game at other resolutions. Someone who downloads the fix can set the resolution they’d like within the .ini file found in config\Symphonia\GeDoSaTo.ini. The default is 3840×2160. In-game, the resolution must be set at 720p for the fix to work. People who already have GeDoSaTo, from one of Durante’s other projects, can update within the program itself.

Some of Durante’s previous work includes a mod that removed the Tales of Zestiria framerate lock. Once applied, the game could run at 60fps, instead of 30fps.

In addition to Durante’s fix, Bandai Namco released an update in the Tales of Symphonia Steam forums. The company is aware of the game’s problems and is working on patches to fix them.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is currently available on the PlayStation Store for $4.99. The PlayStation 3 collection includes Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.
