Here Are A Couple Useful Tools To Help Catch ‘em All In Pokémon GO

Pokémon GO has been rolling out in different parts of the world, but not everyone can afford to roll out across town to catch ‘em all. Here are a couple useful tools to help catch nearby Pokémon.

First is a look at the PokéDetector app, which was recently shared by Kotaku. This app works on Android Wear smartwatches and it basically gives you a heads-up whenever you’re near any Pokémon as shown in the image above. To put it simply, it’s an alert system that requires you to to keep the game running on the phone while it does the searching for you.

It even includes a map mode to check the area around you on your phone.

The good part about the app is that you can play the game while freely walking around and look around so you won’t get hit by a car, jumped by thugs, or eaten by Gyarados.

The bad part is that it requires a smartwatch, and since the app uses an unofficial Pokémon GO code, there’s a small chance for your account to get banned. PokéDetector makers recommend using a dummy or secondary account while playing the game itself on your primary account since you’ll still be able to see the same Pokémon spawns.

Next up is one is PokéVision, which is pretty much like PokéDetector’s map mode except you can take advantage of it by simply visiting the website. This tool is a tracker/locator that uses Niantic API to find the location of nearby Pokémon in real-time by simply using a map and your location.

I was a bit skeptical when I first learned out about PokéVision, so I decided to check it out for myself. I turned it on and decided to give it a spin and the first Pokémon I saw was a wild Bulbasaur—so I told myself that this thing better work with only a couple minutes left on the timer.

I frantically rushed outside, half-dressed, mind you, without thinking twice about what my neighbors would think of my appearance, but little did I care—I was able to catch my first Bulbasaur! And it was exactly where it was marked.

I just checked the website as of this writing and was able to find myself an Alakazam as well, albeit a weak one.

So to summarize PokéVision, the good part is that it is very accurate and has helped me find Pokémon without the need to mindlessly walk around when seeing that dreaded silhouette of a rare Pokémon with a 3-step marker.

As for the bad part, PokéVision might occasionally take a while to properly scan due to unstable or offline servers from Pokémon GO, so there are times where it feels like it can be a hit or miss.
