Gloom draws inspiration from Lovecraft and the Souls series of games, pitting players against monstrous beasts and deadly warriors as they comb a dangerous, randomly-generated world seeking pages of the Necronomicon.

Players will be able to find various weapons and tools, each with its own play style to adapt to and use. How well the player uses those weapons in combat will dictate just how challenging the game can be, as Gloom scales its difficulty based on the payer’s actions. No matter what, though, the game’s monsters will put up a challenging fight as players roll and dodge to avoid their attacks.

The roguelike gameplay will change on each run with some randomized elements, although the developer promises that each setup will be beatable when Gloom releases in Spring 2017.
