Last week, Japan had several new releases with the latest footie action in FIFA 17, Kadokawa Games’ PS Vita dungeon crawler sequel by Experience in Demon Gaze 2, Dead Island: Definitive Collection, and Idea Factory’s latest visual novel title Haitaka no Psychedelica. Here’s the latest from sales tracker Media Create’s weekly data on software and hardware that sold in the week of September 12 through September 18, 2016.

Debuting at #1 was FIFA 17, which sold 57,012 copies for PS4 and 12,961 for PS3 for a total of 69,973 copies sold in its debut. This is a huge boost for the franchise in Japan, as FIFA 16’s debut sold just 31,351 copies between PS4 and PS3 last year. The year before that, FIFA 15 sold 32,868 copies between PS4 and PS3.

Unfortunately for the other big title that released in Japan this week, Demon Gaze 2, we can’t say the same thing—rather, it saw the complete opposite with 13,792 copies sold in its debut to put it at #4, which is almost half of the 25,316 copies its predecessor, the first Demon Gaze, debuted with in January 2013.

At #2, we have Persona 5 again with 22,814 copies sold in its third week. It kept the same placement last week after Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoro took the throne for a week in its debut. Utawarerumono, on the other hand, dropped to #9 in its second week with 5,572 copies sold. It’s a good example of how RPGs in general don’t have a long tail in Japan, especially for a series with most fans buying the game at their debut.

As far as other new titles go, Dead Island: Definitive Collection sold 5,387 copies to take #10. Idea Factory’s latest visual novel, Haitaka no Psychedelica, was just below at #11 with 5,172 copies sold on its debut.

On the hardware front, PlayStation 4 sold 13,401 units less than it did the week prior, so we’ll probably have to wait a little more until we see steady numbers after their restock. The rest of the systems more or less remained the same with a few ups and downs.

The top-20 chart for the week was as follows:
