Pokémon GO’s Halloween Event Begins October 26, 2016

The Pokémon Company has announced a special Halloween event for Pokémon GO. To get in the spirit of the season, it’ll be possible to earn more candy for every interaction. In addition, there will be more spooky Pokémon roaming around the world. From October 26 to November 1, 2016, people should experience a marked difference as they play.

Candy distribution will be doubled across the board in Pokémon GO. Normally, when you catch a Pokémon, you get three candies as a reward. You’ll get six during this time period. If you hatch a Pokémon, you’ll receive twice as much candy as usual. Your buddy Pokémon will give candy four times faster than usual, which means it may be a good time to switch to a 5km per candy buddy Pokémon like Kabuto, Omanyte, Dratini, or Dragonair. And, when you transfer a Pokémon, you’ll receive two candies instead of one.

The Pokémon that should appear in greater numbers during this one week period are as follows:

  • Zubat
  • Golbat
  • Gastly
  • Haunter
  • Gengar
  • Drowsee
  • Hypno

In addition to the Halloween Pokémon GO events, a few other things have changed due to the game being updated to 1.13.3 on Apple iOS devices and 0.43.3 on Android devices. Eggs have different colors to show how long they’ll take to hatch, with 2km being green, 5km being yellow, and 10km being blue. Your Pokémon will all have type icons on their information pages. There is also a low battery indicator for Pokémon GO Plus and some text fixes.

Pokémon GO is now available for Apple iOS and Android devices.
