Koei Tecmo recently revealed two popular characters from the Dead or Alive series in Honoka and Marie Rose for Musou Stars, and producer Masaki Furusawa said in an interview in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that he’d like to use “a bit of the Soft Engine” for the game. The Soft Engine is a specially crafted engine by Team Ninja that was made as a visual enhancement to make skin look softer and show more elasticity (mostly around the chest and buttocks). The engine was first used for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round and it saw upgrade when it evolved to the “Soft Engine 2.0” for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.
Furusawa said in the Famitsu interview that he’d like to use this engine for Musou Stars, but the way he said “a bit of the Soft Engine” makes it sound like it would be some kind of lite version of the engine, but we can still expect to see some stuff look more “natural” even if it isn’t on the level of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3’s.
Famitsu suggested that perhaps we may only see the engine used for only Dead or Alive characters, but this hasn’t been decided by the looks of it sounds of it it so far.
Musou Stars releases on March 2, 2017 in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
