Aquaplus shared a new trailer for their upcoming PS Vita dungeon crawler game, Dungeon Travelers 2-2, where we get to see plenty of characters and world of the “what if” story.

The story of Dungeon Travelers 2-2 is a “what if” scenario that basically shows what would have happened if the protagonist Fried and the others lost to the Demon God at the end of Dungeon Travelers 2.

Fried takes on a new “darkness fallen” appearance that makes him look like a smaller boy, and we’ll also see the heroines in this state as well, but they’ll carry on more monster-like appearances.

In addition to an improved battle system, the game has a more user-friendly interface with backlogs for battles and plenty of new dungeon features.

One new feature is the “Mercenary Buddy” system that lets you hire mercenaries. Your hired mercenaries join your party and act on their own with attacks, skills, and support without the need of your command.

There are various types of characters for Mercenary Buddies, including human and monster characters. These characters will also be different in terms of how much they’ll cost to hire, the number of times they can be used, stats, skills, and more.

You’ll get to choose what kind of mercenary to hire, so that means you’ll get to choose accordingly be it to increase your party’s power or to get help taking out a specific enemy. New Mercenary Buddy characters unlock as you advance through the story or go through special events.

Dungeon Travelers 2-2 releases in Japan on April 20, 2017 for PlayStation Vita.
