Metroid: Samus Returns Coming To The Nintendo 3DS

In addition to Metroid Prime 4, a second Metroid game has been announced. This one will be out this year. Nintendo and MercurySteam have made Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS. It will arrive on September 15, 2017. It turns out it is a reimagining of Metroid II: Return of Samus, a game that originally appeared on the Game Boy.

Metroid: Samus Returns looks to be in the vein of more traditional Metroid games. It is a 2.5D action game that will send Samus through side-scrolling environments. We see a Chozo Statue in the trailer, and Nintendo has noted she will receive new abilities to help her along her way in this title. Among them are Aeion Abilities, a Melee Counter, and a Free Aim Mode that allows for 360-degree targeting for shots.

Metroid: Samus Returns will be accompanied by new Samus amiibo and a “squishy” Metroid amiibo. A special edition of the game will include a soundtrack CD.
