Two Rare PlayStation VR Deals Surface for Up to $50 Off

It seems like the past few days have been imbued with a flurry of PlayStation related hardware deals. From the PS4 Pro discount at Jet.com (which has now carried over to Newegg), to freshly available PlayStation VR deals – with discounts up to $50 off. The virtual reality headset from Sony has rarely been discounted in 2017, but it looks like Summer is “good enough” an excuse to throw a discount party with eBay launching a college-bound themed coupon code for 10% off at select retailers.

You can probably see where we’re going with this. Yep, the aforementioned code now works on the PS VR core headset and PS VR Worlds bundle, knocking 10% off either hardware depending on your needs. While we think a $360 price tag is still a steep price for many, we’d imagine the $40 (or $50) discount is better than paying the full list price. Those who don’t reside in CA, NJ, IN, and TN (locations where Newegg has warehouses) will also be able to save money on sales tax, an extra bonus savings of sort.

List % Off Sale Price
PlayStation 4 Pro 1TB Console $399.99 10% $359.99
PlayStation VR Core Headset $399.99 10% $359.99
PlayStation VR Worlds Bundle $499.99 10% $449.99

Released last year back on October 13, the PlayStation VR was an in-demanded item during the holiday season as supplies were low. They were often resold on eBay and elsewhere for 2x their value, but these days they are a lot more ubiquitous in nature as production has finally caught up with demand.

In terms of its price, we’ve seen various discounts on either the Core Headset or the Worlds Bundle, both are generally around 10% off. The lowest price we’ve seen the PS VR Core Headset sell for was for $350 at Best Buy during a limited time 1-day sale, while the PS VR Worlds Bundle went as cheap as $415 at Rakuten thanks to a fluke combination of discount and coupon via a MasterPass promotion.

If you’re not in a hurry in adopting VR, maybe because you’re still saving up for a PS4 Pro (which is coincidentally also on sale), or maybe you’re waiting for more “killer app” title to appear, we suspect discounts of $50 to $80 will be available again later this holiday season. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony finally introduces a newer official bundle that offers more modern titles as the PS VR game library grows.
