People With Japanese Switch Accounts Can Get Penguin Wars On September 21, 2017

There is good news for people who have Japanese accounts set up on their Nintendo Switch systems. They will have access to the new Penguin Wars game next week. On September 21, 2017, it will make its eShop debut. The game will cost ¥1,800 (~$16).

In addition to the release date, a trailer for Penguin Wars has been released. Like Soldam, another Nintendo Switch game from City Connection, it appears easy to play even if you do not know Japanese. (The video shows characters’ names, stat areas for upgrades, and special attack names are in English.) The trailer notes that the game can be played horizontally or vertically in Handheld Mode. It also notes that there is a Network Mode, so you can play against other people online. A few of the playable characters, like Riley the Penguin, make appearances.

The first Penguin Wars game appeared in arcades and on the NES and MSX in 1985. It later appeared on the Game Boy in 1990. A worldwide release has yet to be announced for the Nintendo Switch Penguin Wars game.
