When Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro’s The Good Life was announced, we were told our heroine would find herself trapped in a pleasant town where everyone turns to cats at night. Now, it turns out people will have an option. There will be both Cat Version and Dog Version releases of the game. In one, Naomi and the townsfolk turn into cats at night, and in the other they turn into dogs.

The cat and dog versions of characters will have different abilities, meaning The Good Life will play differently. Naomi the cat can climb and explore small passages. Naomi the dog can dig or follow smells. The two versions’ online multiplayer will be compatible. When you visit the separate multiplayer world, you can scratch or leave cricket corpses for friends as a a cat or mark territory and scare sheep as a dog.

The Good Life is being crowdfunded through Fig. The campaign is attempting to raise $1,500,000. It will initially appear on the PC and PlayStation 4, though there are Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions as stretch goals.
