$18 Off Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Collector’s and More Nintendo Switch Black Friday Deals

Nintendo Switch game deals are flying off the virtual shelves this Black Friday season. We’ve been spotting them going out of stock as fast as we can spot available deals. For example, if you head to Walmart and check their Nintendo Switch category in their Black Friday sale – you’ll find most products out of stock, particularly games that were on sale for $29.  The same story applies at Best Buy for the deeply discounted titles as well.

Having said that, there are a few “hidden” gems Nintendo Switch game deals this holiday season. Of note is the pre-order copy of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Special Edition (aka the Collector’s Edition) on sale for $82. This makes it an 18% off discount from the $100 list price. The pre-order discount at Walmart has been hovering around anywhere from a minor $5 discount to the current $18. It’s a great deal if you’re interested in the Collected Works artbook, OST, and more.

Other Nintendo Switch deals still available online is a Nintendo Switch bundle with actual savings. Thus far there hasn’t really been any “real” Nintendo Switch console deal, but this console bundle comes close. In the NeweggFlash offering, they are bundling in the $70 Pro Controller along with the $60 copy of Super Mario Odyssey and a $50 Newegg Gift Card for a total of $445.  This gets you a saving of $33 in terms of the value you’re receiving – and you’ll even save on sales tax as well given Newegg only charges them in CA, IN, NJ, and TN.

Better Nintendo Switch Game Deals on Cyber Monday?

Most of the deals above are at the typical retailers you’d expect, namely GameStop, Walmart, and Target. Note that the used copies are being sold at Gamefly who’s offering free shipping as an extra incentive even though some of the games are priced below typical free ship thresholds.  Also, for what it’s worth – both FIFA 18 and Lego Ninjago Movie Video Game have been cheaper this Black Friday (at $29 and $20 respectively). Unfortunately, they went out of stock so fast the prices above are what you’ll find for currently in-stock items with a discount.

If you’re on the fence about any of the Nintendo Switch games above, should you wait for Cyber Monday? To be honest, it’s a tough decision on games that haven’t been priced cheaper as we’re unsure if retailers have even kept extra stock for the second round of discount. In years past, retailers often hold inventory so that they can offer products to customers during both Black Friday and Cyber Monday – but this isn’t an ironclad rule or anything as well.

Unless the game has been cheaper before, we think you’re safe buying from most retailers above. At the end of the day, if you’re willing – you can always buy first to secure a copy, then return if the prices end up getting cheaper elsewhere in the next few days.

Nintendo Switch Games in eShop “Cyber Deals” Sale

Game/Deal Title List % Off Sale Price
Disgaea 5 Complete $59.99 16% $49.99
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game $59.99 30% $41.99
Super Bomberman R $49.99 20% $39.99
1-2-Switch $49.99 20% $39.99
LEGO City Undercover $39.99 30% $27.99
I am Setsuna $39.99 40% $23.99
Puyo Puyo Tetris $29.99 16% $24.99

For the sake of completeness, we’ve added deals from the Nintendo eShop during their “Cyber Week” deals. The promotion runs through December 11 so you’ll have plenty of time to pick up the discounted game.

Of course, if you do a quick comparison above the prices are laughingly “bad” compared to their retail counterparts. On any other normal days, these will be decent discounts – but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend the eShop offerings are pretty timid. The only title we’ll consider out of the bunch is I am Setsuna as it’s a digital title. For everything else, the physical copies are cheaper if you’re willing to look.
