Square Enix held its Letter from the Producer Live Part XL live stream for Final Fantasy XIV today, where Yoshi-P and Foxclon had the latest details to share on the upcoming Patch 4.2, titled “Rise of a New Sun.”

Patch 4.2 will add content that we’ve come to expect from the usual major patches, starting with the latest new Main Scenario Quests to keep the story of 4.x going. It’ll also bring in new sidequests including more from Hildibrand and new Beast Tribe Quests with the Ananta.

As far as battle content goes, 4.2 adds two new dungeons with “Hells’ Lid” and “The Fractal Continuum (Hard).” The new Trial is adding “The Jade Stoa” and “The Jade Stoa (Extreme)” for The Four Lords series. New Raids in “Omega: Sigmascape” and “Omega: Sigmascape (Savage)” will also be added.

Other content updates include The Forbidden Land of Eureka – Anemos, but that will be coming for Patch 4.25 and will play a big role in the new Relic Weapons and Relic Armor that was recently revealed. PvP (The Feast) will also see some additions with a new map, rule revisions, and ranked team matches.

Now for the part everyone’s been asking for—Glamour system updates. Starting Patch 4.2, players will get to convert equipment into “Glamour Commodes,” although it still remains unknown whether dyes will carry over. Furthermore, all Glamour Prisms will be converted to a single type of prism. Once you have your Glamour Commodes set, you’ll get to have fun playing around with different outfits and save the Glamour Ensembles you like.

The next big news of Patch 4.2 is the inventory update. Starting in Rise of a New Sun, players can let out a big sigh of relief, as stack size of consumable items and crafting materials will be increased from 99 to 999. Moreover,”Chocobo Saddlebags” will also give you some extra space with 70 slots. Think of it as a 70-slot Retainer.

While it might not seem like a big deal to some, I’m sure many of you have accidentally hit the “Sort” button only to have your meticulously sorted inventory ruined. The addition of an “Undo Sort” option will allow you to… well, undo the sort.

As for the last piece of big news, those of you who missed out on the new Housing can try your luck again with additional plots being added for Patch 4.2. There will also be some changes to the plot purchasing system, so we there’s a chance we won’t be as disappointed as we were when the Shirogane Housing was implemented. More details will be revealed on that later. As an extra note, players will get to teleport to friends’ houses starting 4.2.

Patch 4.2: Rise of a New Sun launches in late January 2018.
