Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro was at PAX East 2018 with White Owls Inc. showing off The Good Life. (Also, making a cameo appearance as The White Owl at Paxamania IV.) To help people better understand what the game is like, he went through a pre-production build of the game and explained how its mechanics worked. That 24 minutes of gameplay is now online for people to see.
The PAX East 2018 The Good Life footage begins by showing off photography. Naomi is a reporter who is in Rainy Woods working to pay off her debt. Swery has her take pictures of some common things around town, like a sheep and a couple, then explains that these can be uploaded to an in-game network called Flamingo, where virtual likes will help Naomi earn more money. (There are even trending topics that can be exploited.) From there, it goes on to show more of the town and discuss NPCs and activities.
The Good Life is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. As of 11am CT on April 13, 2018, 5,343 backers have pledged $269,976. It needs to reach $633,391 by May 4, 2018 to be funded. If funded, it will come to the PlayStation 4 and PC.
