Catching The Meltan Pokemon Involves Mystery Boxes

More information has been revealed about Meltan, the latest Pokémon that will appear in Pokémon GO and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!. A website has been opened that reveals details about the character and how people will be able to catch it in Pokémon GO after sending characters to one of the two Nintendo Switch games.

Meltan is tied to Mystery Boxes. After you transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Eevee! for the first time, you will get a Mystery Box. Using it gives you a chance to open it and immediately catch Meltan. You can only have one Mystery Box at a time and you have to wait a bit before getting a second one after opening it, but it will be possible to keep collecting Mystery Boxes and catching more Meltans. In addition, Pokémon GO will get Special Research quests tied to capturing Meltan.

Here are the specific details about Meltan from the official site.

Name: Meltan
Category: Hex Nut Pokémon
Type: Steel
Height: 0’08"
Weight: 17.6 lbs.

Most of Meltan’s body is made from liquid metal, and its shape is very fluid. It can use its liquid arms and legs to corrode metal and absorb it into its own body.

Meltan generates electricity using the metal it absorbs from outside sources. It uses this electricity as an energy source and also as an attack that can be fired from its eye.

Clearly a curious Pokémon, Meltan is very expressive and shows an interest in all kinds of things.

Pokémon GO is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
