Favorite Xbox Games

The best games for the Xbox are universally known as the platnium hits collection. All around the world game titles covered with the silver boarder are the best picks for the Xbox. While the library for the Xbox is large in America and Europe, it is lacking in Japan. In return the platinum hits titles for the Japanese region are few as well.

Compared to the Playstation 2 there is only one title that is a platinum hit from all three regions. To no ones suprise it is the Xbox flagship title Dead or Alive 3. Halo: Combat Evolved still sells enough titles in Europe and the US so it isn't a platinum hit in those regions, but it will be. Which would make Halo the other universally enjoyed title.

The US and European lists show striking similarity. The Xbox exclusives like Project Gotham Racing, Amped, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and the Elder Scrolls Morrowind III are all platinum hits. Other top console titles like the Tony Hawk series, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Spider Man: The Movie appear here in the Xbox platinum hits category too.

The main differences are seen in the Japanese platinum hits list. This list includes the critically acclaimed, yet unpopular Panzer Dragoon Orta and one of the few Xbox RPGs Shin Megami Tensei Nine. The list also includes Murakmo, which was released in the states with not much attention paid to it. One thing good about the platinum hits collection in Japan is you can pick up a copy of Halo or Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball for cheap. Even though these games are popular in both American and Europe they still haven't been added to the platinum hits collection.

Since the Xbox Platinum Hits collection is still growing we expect many changes to it. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a sure bet that will eventually be added to this list, once it can't sell as many copies at full price. It is likely that Soul Calibur 2 will be added even though it didn't have as many sales for the Xbox compared to the the PS2 and Gamecube numbers. The Simpsons: Hit and Run are also likely to make an appearance here. We wouldn't be surprised to see Enter the Matrix, Hitman 2 Crimson Skies, or True Crime: Streets of LA added to this list either.

The Japanese list is likely to differ a lot compared to the European and American lists. Some of the games that may be added included are Otogi, Jet Set Radio Future and Amped. Another thing to note is there is another collection in Japan besides the platinum hits collection. There is the Xbox world collection, which features American games that are untranslated and come with a Japanese instruction manual. Games that have been released over to Japan in this collection include Counterstrike, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Simpsons: Hit and Run and Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus. This other collection hasn't taken off yet, but it is interesting to see some American titles that wouldn't normally be released in Japan enter their shores.
