In 2005 gamers will be able to play another PlayOnline game instead of Final Fantasy XI or Tetra Master. Square Enix dusts off their tactical mech franchise and brings it online, under the title Front Mission Online. Front Mission Online features a job system where players can pick a primary and secondary job. Jobs include missileer, recon, assault and mechanic. Front Mission Online also features the detailed equipment options seen in other Front Mission games. Players will be able to completely customize their "Wanzer" by equipping different weapons, arms, legs and accessories. Unlike FFXI, which takes place in an ever changing world, Front Mission Online has players meet in a lobby where they can find allies to complete missions. Front Mission Online is currently in a beta testing phase and should be released in 2005.
