Nintendo DS

Everyone has been wondering about the Nintendo DS since it was announced a few months back. We have some screen shots of the system in action and a much better idea of how the system works. One of the main features of the system is that it has two screens. You're probably asking why two screens? The best explanation is to show how Nintendo has been using the two screens. For Animal Crossing DS one screen is used to enter in a name. In Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters uses one screen as a map. Furthermore one of the screens is a touch screen, how Nintendo plans to use this is still unclear, but we'll be seeing more about that soon. The DS also features wireless communication. To show this off Nintendo is showing off Pictochat, which uses bluetooth for communication. Graphically, the DS is stronger than the GBA it can support 2D and 3D graphics comparable to Nintendo 64 quality. Another unique feature in the DS is there is a built in microphone. Is Nintendo considering voice controlled games? Maybe. Some third party developers have already jumped the DS bandwagon like Sega who is developing a Sonic game for it and Koei who are making Dynasty Warriors DS. Square Enix announced that they will have a launch title for the system too.
