Video game figurines take a walk on Pinky Street

By Jenni . July 3, 2008 . 12:36pm

The Pinky St. figurines have grown quite popular in Japan due to the adorable character designs, customization options and interchangable parts. They’ve even inspired PS2 (Mahoroba Stories) and DS games (Pinky St. Kira Kira Music Hour, Pinky St. Kira Kira Music Night). Some of the most popular Pinky St. releases, however, are versions of popular video game characters.

More characters for Cross Edge

By Spencer . July 2, 2008 . 7:30am

Rolando found a piece of promotional art (thanks!!) for Compile Heart’s strategy RPG mashup and it reveals a few more faces. The original image was tiny so it’s horribly scrambled when expanded, but you can clearly see Lilith from Darkstalkers…

Meet Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru’s slime

By Jenni . June 30, 2008 . 3:07pm

Despite her selfish nature, the princess star of Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru has no problem finding friends. From the cockatiel on her shoulder and the guard assigned to watch in her shadows (who is repeatedly impressed by the princess’ abilities) to a random little slime who decides to follow her, the princess is undoubtedly popular. As I mentioned before, my friend purchased the game, and he not only answered my questions about the environment altering features, but also the princess’ traveling companion.

Enterbrain democratizing Xbox 360 RPG development

By Spencer . June 30, 2008 . 2:46pm

Remember the create-your-own RPG PlayStation 2 games? We haven’t seen a new console version since 2005 when RPG Maker 3 came out on the PS2. I thought Enterbrain would transfer the series, known as RPG Tsukuru in Japan, on the…

There are only a handful of original Xbox Live games developed Japan that aren’t arcade ports or based on a franchise. Yuke’s Double D Dodgeball is one of them and I spoke to Ken Koyama, Product Manager at Yuke’s Corporation…

Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru: Changing the world to meet with your approval

By Jenni . June 25, 2008 . 9:11am

A friend of mine was fortunate enough to procure a copy of Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru, the DS game starring a selfish princess with quite a bit of will power, and was kind enough to enlighten me as to how her will affects the environment. She has the unique ability to bend her environment, the nature of her world and enemies’ actions in battle, to her liking. This means she can not only determine what an area will be like, but also the level of enemies and battle bonuses.

During the era of the PsOne Artdink was one of Sony’s biggest supporters. Their unusual games had players control cavemen, direct a walking domino, and dive into the deep blue, before Akria created Everblue. The latter game was called Aquanaut's…
