One of the particular challenges of this game was the jokes. There are jokes in other games but 999 had a lot of them, and they almost all revolved around Japanese puns or wordplay, which meant that they were absolute nonsense in English.

Once I get all of the raw translations, it’s my responsibility to make it read somewhat naturally as well as bring out the intent of any given dialog as opposed to just the meaning of the words.
