D3 Publisher in preparation for Blue Dragon Awakened Shadow’s spring 2010 release sent some Akira Toriyama artwork to gaze at.

Mistwalker’s network enabled Blue Dragon DS game is coming to North America next spring under the name Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow.

Dragon Quest IX is ready to storm sales charts this week while another “Dragon” game is on the horizon.

Sometime this year Blue Dragon: Ikai no Kyoju will come out in Japan and bring shadow swapping, Mecharobo powered debuffing, and MMO-lite gameplay to the Nintendo DS.

I’ll readily admit that I have never played Blue Dragon on the Xbox 360, but it still came to me as a surprise that the next game in the series is a real time strategy game. Well, it’s sort of a real time strategy game, but I’ll get into that later.

At one time Dragon Quest IX was said to have real time battles. Square Enix never demonstrated so this is more like dead hearsay since the final version of Dragon Quest IX stuck with turn based combat.
