Square Enix revealed the cover art for Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, which appropriately has a fairy on the front.
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy gives the game’s bad guys just as much character as the heroes. Main villains have jobs and appear in four person parties like the Eternia Air Force (they have a knight, monk, white mage, and black mage).
Three more jobs were revealed: Ninja, Summoner, and Valkyrie – a job exclusively for female characters. Don’t worry you can skip summon animations, Square Enix said during the broadcast.
Extra costumes come bundled with copies of Bravely Default and the game’s soundtrack.
Summoned allies automatically use one command like striking enemies with fight or healing the group with Cura. The more you summon a friend the stronger they get.
In this demo, Tiz, Edea, and Lingabel explore a cave filled with monsters like giant beetles and conjurers (with owl heads). I was eager to tryout the new jobs so I made Tiz a Superstar, Edea a Magic Knight, and Lingabel a Red Mage.
In the demo, it took 20 seconds for both characters to do all of their attacks. The revised version of Bravely Default only takes 14 seconds and if that’s not fast enough you can hold down a button and fast forward battle animations.
Square Enix will release yet another Bravely Default: Flying Fairy demo. This demo will introduce Lingabel, the fourth party member, and let players try out five different jobs.
Bravely Default has a communication feature where you can exchange characters you leveled up. Friends can summon your characters and their power goes up each time they’re called.
The collector’s edition includes the game, an album of art, a 3DS cover, a giant augmented reality poster, and the game’s soundtrack.
By selecting support abilities you can give a white mage HP 10% up for a life boost or the knight’s ability to cover injured characters.
Bravely Default: Flying Fairy’s battle system is reminiscent of old Final Fantasy games with two new commands. Players can use “default” to skip their turn and stock one BP or select “brave” to do a burst of attacks.
Bravely Default is a throwback to earlier Final Fantasy games with turn based battles and multiple hits. Remember Final Fantasy III? It’s kind of like that, but with “brave” and “default” commands.
