As we reported earlier today, Cave Story 3D has been delayed from its intended August release to November 8. NIS America just sent over another update – a new batch of screenshots of the Nintendo 3DS version.

It started out as a launch window game, but Cave Story 3D is now a holiday season title. NIS America pushed Quote’s journey into the third dimension back to November 8. NIS America will use the extra time to improve the game.

We do have an update about Quote’s 3D transformation, though! NIS America sent us a new batch of screenshots from the Lab and Sand Zone.

The news came with the first batch of Cave Story 3D screenshots.

When NIS America announced Cave Story 3D, they said the title was on track to be a “launch window” game. We honed in on the date and Cave Story 3D is scheduled to be in stores on June 28.

“First and foremost, I always put myself in the player’s shoes. ‘If I were a player how would I think of this? How would I explore?’ and then I take another step,” Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya explained when we were reflecting on level design.

“I learned a lot after releasing Cave Story for DSiWare and WiiWare,” Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya replied with a humble tone. “There were a lot of positive comments, but there were other people who didn’t like the graphic style.”

After our interview with Daisuke Amaya, I got to explore the first cave in Cave Story 3D.

Cave Story will get its first retail release and NIS America is publishing it. Cave Story 3D is a 2.5D remake of Cave Story with polygon environments and characters.
