Crisis Core: On the road to Fort Tamblin

By Jeriaska . April 8, 2008 . 11:09pm

These are some initial impressions of the PSP iteration of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.  They include spoiler-free details on the first couple hours of the game from the vantage point of someone having just picked up the localized title.

Choosing not to dwell on the nostalgic touches–the significance of the way the characters’ heads [...]

Mission complete, inside the Crisis Core launch party

By Spencer . March 26, 2008 . 9:05am

I didn’t make it to the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII launch party, but Siliconera reader, RagolSlayer did. For everyone who wasn’t at the Metreon, RagolSlayer did us a huge favor by taking pictures of the party and writing up a report that I can’t take any credit for. He notes:

RagolSlayer here. Went to [...]

What if Crisis Core included multiplayer?

By Spencer . March 24, 2008 . 8:25pm

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII comes to North America tomorrow with an added feature, hard mode. No multiplayer, but at one point Hajime Tabata, the director of Crisis Core, was considering it. On the newly opened Square Enix members site there is an interview with Tabata where he says, “we also considered implementing a [...]

English Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII contains additional challenges (update: confirmed for NA)

By Spencer . March 17, 2008 . 9:50am

And by English I mean British (PAL) version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. In the press release announcing the limited edition version of Crisis Core for Europe it also mentions “additional gameplay challenges not included in the original Japanese version.” This includes a more difficult, hard mode. Since the press release did not [...]

Arriving in Asia, English Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

By Spencer . February 26, 2008 . 11:28am

While we’re on the subject of languages, did you know the “Asian” versions of PSP/PlayStation 2/PS3 RPGs are typically in Japanese? This fact is probably commonly known within the savvy Siliconera audience, but it’s still a nuisance if you live in an English speaking region like Hong Kong of Singapore. The only “handy” guide gamers [...]

Bonus information on the Shinra Electric Company UMD case

By Spencer . January 28, 2008 . 6:51pm

Thanks to the vigilant CAG community and a Square-Enix press release you probably already know about the pre-order bonus for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. We don’t get the headphones gamers in Japan received. Instead North American gamers get a UMD case branded with the Shinra Electric Company logo.

I was itching to post this up, [...]

Crisis Core Chronicles: Everyone loves Zack

By Spencer . October 3, 2007 . 6:11pm

That’s the consensus from the supporting cast of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Cloud looks up to him and Aeris adores him. Square-Enix even makes him loveable to the audience. Unlike the mentally mixed up Cloud, Zack has a clear dream to become Soldier First Class. In the early part of the game Zack has [...]

Crisis Core Chronicles: The beginning

By Spencer . September 13, 2007 . 6:41pm

While I failed the mission of securing a Crisis Core Slim PSP bundle I did pick up a copy of the game. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII begins with a dramatic train sequence. Zack runs on top train cars and slices soldiers while screaming about how he is in soldier. Once the intro movie is [...]
