Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor wasn’t the first Megaten strategy RPG spinoff. Back in 1994, Atlus released Majin Tensei, which switches between a grid battlefield and a first person view during combat.
Since event scenes and battles take place on the bottom screen Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked is almost entirely in 2D. The opening movie is an exception where you’ll see cutouts of the main characters floating around in 3D.
